The First Firefly This Summer!

Fire in the Sky
Fire in the Sky

I told you what happens when I see the first firefly of the season…that’s right…I SCREAM!! And scream I did…loud enough to make the puppy jump straight up in the air!!

Line, from Paths of the Spirit, wrote a poem with fireflies in it…it was beautiful. And Frédéric, from Poems and Poemes, also wrote a poem where the wonderful firefly made an appearance… also very beautiful.

So just a few minutes ago I was sitting on my bed and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash out of the french doors…and I screamed! I was hopeful…but it was only out of the corner of my eye.

So I sat, eyes pealed to the door at the vast darkness beyond. And the beautiful firefly showed me her stuff! First firefly of the season…let summer begin…and on Friday the 13th…With a strawberry full moon!!!

Many blessings for a super weekend.

Blessitude

    1. Haha! I know…I really scream! I told Line I would let her know when I saw the first one. Now the backyard will continue to get more and more…and then it will be a dancing light show! Great weekend Brad!

  1. Wow Lorrie, it’s such a big event. I am going to tell you a secret: I am in love with fireflies, both the word and the insect. In french we call them “LUCIOLES” it’s a very very nice word too. Thanks for mentioning me in your post with such kind words.Have a very nice weekend (I’m going to visit castles gardens in the Vallée de la Loire, I’m going to see nice flowers unfortunately, pas de lucioles 🙂 …

    But thanks to your kindness
I can see within your hearts
    So many fireflies

    Love to you!

    1. My dear Frédéric! I’m so happy you saw the post! And I was so happy to see my beloved fireflies 🙂 I knew you would celebrate with me as I remembered you said they were dear to you. I also like the word…and the French word seems beautiful as well (I will ask my girlfriend how to pronounce it!)
Have the very best time visiting the flowers in the Vallee de la Loire!! I hope you will take many photos as flowers are also favorites of mine!
      My love to you!

    1. Hi Line! It seems just a little bit early, so I had to make sure 🙂 I did not plan to post last night but I wanted to tell you. I wish I could collect them in a jar and send them to you with a big bow on it 🙂 One day you will see fireflies…I just know it!! Much love to you ♡♡♡

      1. This is for you – I wish I can dance with you on the words of this beautiful piano melody. I am playing with my musical group.

        1. Oh Mihran….it is so so beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes because it stirred that place deep in my soul. You are very gifted…and I thank you for my gift. Blessings to you dear friend.

    1. Hey Debi…I’m so happy you could see it!! It makes me want to go out and catch them (set them free of course) just like when I was a little girl!! Good memories 🙂

      1. Indeed! For me, too. Backyard family barbeques. The smell of burgers grilling while we kids ran around catching (and releasing) fireflies. Thanks for bringing up some very, very good memories!

        1. 🙂 It’s so refreshing for me to be able to bring happiness from my past to the forefront. This was unlikely up til a few years ago. Thanks for sharing 🙂
The sun is out here for the first time all week 🙂 Have a beautiful weekend Debi!

    1. I did not know that Michael. But your line seemed like the middle of a haiku….hope you don’t mind….

      fireflies appear
      crickets chirping for last week
      summer has arrived

Have a really good weekend 🙂

  3. I think fireflies are one of the most amazing and interesting things of all creations. Have not seen any here as yet so enjoy for me too. Hopefully we will see some soon. Hugs

    1. Hi Mags!! I just read about your lightening incident…and I am struck that as children we called fireflies “lightening bugs!”
I think it is a little early for us to see them….I hope you get to see yours soon 🙂 I hope you are feeling better!

    1. Thanks Kimberly!! I’m so happy that it reads the way it happened! I guess it helped that I wrote it right away…When I WAS so EXCITED!!! Much love to you 🙂
