Drive me home
Past the willow trees
and the sparkling rivers
Cool water quenches my thirst and I am satisfied
Somewhere near the whippoorwill hiding in pines that grow taller than the days are long
I find my heart beat is akin to the sounds of nature
The natural beauty of life
Lines painted on the highway rush by with intense ferocity
15 feet closer
Coming home
Semis flying
Trying to get their loads to the destination on time – early if possible
Billboards speak of Pedro and his beautiful land South of the Border
“You never Sausage a place!”
The miles rack up on the odometer and they give me time to think
The countless times I’ve driven here
The countless miles I’ve traveled
My soul’s journey is not quite complete
There is still a lot I have to learn
There is still many people I need to meet
And many words I need to write
But this part of the journey
My eyes and heart are wide open
And I will notice everything
The minutiae of everyday life
My Blessed journey
Coming home
Blessitude
Lorrie

Og Lorrie; I love the word “willow” … and “sparkling rivers”, it resonates in my soul! – “the natural beauty of life” yes!!!
“My soul’s journey is not quite complete
“There is still a lot I have to learn”
I feel the same!
I’m definitively sure that we are soulmates 🙂 🙂
Thank you for this heartfelt and beautiful poem.
Much love to you
(here we have strom rains, I do love them, as my garden does!!!)
I’m glad you feel happy and that you “eyes and heart are wide open”
xxoo
Fre’de’ric
OH and not “og” Lorrie, sorry for the mistakes 😉
No Worries…dearest Fre’de’ric!! Yes I do believe we are connected at the soul level…soul mates!!! Thank you so much for always adding something beautiful….something positive!! I fee much better…and you helped me tremendously (I like that word!!) So Fre’de’ric ….is your garden of the flower or vegetable kind? Or both? Of course you tend the land and help things grow….just like you tend your words and make hearts grow!! Love to you dearest. We are overcast and only in the 70’s (Fahrenheit.) An old girlfriend we have not seen in a while is coming over today…that will be nice! <3 <3
Yes “tremendously”, it sounds… tremendous! My garden?, not a vegetable garden, unfornunately, but a small walled garden where I sometimes see little miracles (yesterday I saw a hedgehog visiting it! or beautiful birds like green woodpeckers) So close to Paris (only 10km) it’s really nice. 70° F, it means 21° C (we don’t use °F and it’s always funny when I read “70°”!!! – it’s cool. Here we had over 30° (86°F) with oppresive weather. Have a wonderful Sunday my friend! Love to you xxoo
A GREEN WOODPECKER??? Does that mean that the top of his head is green instead of red?? I have never heard of…or seen one! Happy Monday Fre’de’ric!!! <3 <3
“I find my heart beat is akin to the sounds of nature The natural beauty of life” Me, too, Lorrie. Me, too. It sets my soul at rest so I am able to notice the small miracles, the “minutiae of everyday life.” Blessings.
Hi Susan!! You were on my mind lately…hope all is super fantastic!! So happy you feel this too! <3
“At times I want to escape,
At times I want to dream,
At times I feel free,
Alas when I get tired,
I just want to go home.
Home Sweet Home”
For you Lorrie. Your poetries talk to me and I like talking to them.
Hari Om!
Krishna 🙂
How wonderful!! I love that you talk back to them Krishna!! 🙂 Your words are beautiful. ..thanks so much for stopping by 🙂
“On the road…” I always think of Jack Kerouac. Are you familiar with him, Lorrie?
From the Beatnik days, ya know? Hitch-hiking, taking odd jobs, hoppin’ trains to cross the country -+-
I love road trips. I mean, who doesn’t? Going home to see my parents still gives me the goosebumps
as I close in on the little town of Sedalia, Mo. Anywhoo, 🙂 Take care, be safe, stay cool, and keep the beat! UT

Hi Uncle Tree! Ok…confession time …I know “of” Kerouac…I’ll go out on a (tree) limb and blame it on my age. I am a very tail end baby boomer (“real” boomers say not!) So I was also on the tail end of “beatniks!” ( that sounds funny!)
But…I do know he made it in the lyrics of Billy Joel’s “We didn’t start the fire.”
Yes…I love a good road trip. Bet your parents would love a visit! <3
It was only just last year when I read a couple of his books.
A very good lesson in the history of our country in the early 50’s —
from an “outsider’s” point of view. Born in 58, I may be your elder, huh? 😉
Have a great weekend, dear lady! The heat is on its way.
Hey UT! You might be just a tad bit older 🙂 … I was born in 61! Bring on the heat…it’s only in the 70 ‘ s here…freezing!!!!
🙂
We’re looking at 101 tomorrow. 🙁 Young lady 😉
Stay cool UT!! We have not had 100 ‘ s yet this year…that may be a little hot even for me!! 🙂
Hi Lorrie, Great poem for the traveler in me ( highways and souls). I love driving time to reflect in a lose way as time and miles go by. Soothing unless one is rushed. My heart beats to the sounds of nature too. XD How close do you live to the beach? I’ve never lived at the beach, but wondered if I would enjoy it with how much I love the ocean.
Thanks Brad! Yes…a nice long ride with no deadline…and even I am patient driving then!!
Here in NJ I am about 2 miles from the beach…but in Florida. ..I am only a block away…it’s beautiful. And if you love the beach…you for sure would love to live close to it!!! Lots of love to you!!
Coming home. Those two words bring such peace, spiritually and physically. The anticipation of arrival is a part of this wonderful journey!
Yes! It is a wonderful journey…warts and all? 🙂 🙂
Lorrie – We have no words for your blogs which brings smile and joy to us!!
Thank you Mihran 🙂 I loved your latest video…your music is so beautiful! ! 🙂
Thank you Lorrie – Let your Sunday be blessed!
