A Few Scenes From the Shore

Brad, from Writing to Freedom, is such a great friend who is full of love and support for me….for all really.  He has been missing the east coast….the shore in particular.  This past weekend I told him I would say hello for him.  He then responded by saying that he would love a picture or two.  So here goes….

This is for you Brad!

This is Bradley Beach, NJ.  I just love how the Jersey shore has decided to plant palm trees for the summer!  It is a relatively new idea…I suppose they last for the summer…but then it is sad to think what happens to them.

Bradley Beach boardwalk…well…not really.  They replaced the boards with pavers.  It looks pretty but when you are walking you can really tell the difference between walking on boards and walking on cement!

This is the view from under the bridge which connects Avon, and Belmar, NJ.  These towns got hit very hard during Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy.  Belmar was flooded under 6 feet of water a mile back from the ocean.

The Shark River inlet.  I personally have never seen a shark in here….but….

Belmar Fishing Club.  They have a sign out front that says, “For Members Only.”  When my son was very young he asked, “Why can’t they have more than four members?”

The south end of Avon beach…called the “L.”  There are usually good waves here for surfing.

Just a little glimpse into the Jersey Shore on a beautiful Monday morning in July.

Brad…the shore misses you too!!  Much love <3

  1. Wonderful sky, sea, beaches and shores! I love the photo with the US flag. A beautiful present for my friend Brad! Much love to you 🙂

    1. Thank you Fre’de’ric!! I promised Brad…I didn’t know it would become a post but then I thought…Why not??
It is very beautiful here today 🙂 Enjoy the beginning of your week <3

  2. Thank you dear Lorrie! and Frederic! My heart is happy. I love how you have a beach named in my honor; Bradley Beach!
I’m glad to know the beach misses me too, though I don’t remember visiting, 🙂 I’ve been to OC, Bethany, VA Beach, Nags Head, Carolina Beach, Jekyll Island, Pensacola, Ft. Lauderdale and others I’m probably forgetting. Now can you please bottle that wonderful ocean smell, some sand and the refreshing energy? XD

    1. Oh my goodness Brad!!! I didn’t even make the connection to “Bradley”…how silly that I did not!!! Yes ….I should have said I did it just for you 😉
It seems you have visited enough of the Atlantic Ocean that it knew who you were anyway 🙂 You have been to some really neat places Brad. Too bad you skipped NJ…we get a bad rap because of T.V. shows and because of the city most people fly in to…Newark…oil refineries are all you see. But NJ is a very diverse, very beautiful state that gives you an incredible shore line the length of her and has Pine Barrens and mountains and history…oh my!
Love to you Brad…hope you have a fantastico week….and I will never go to Bradley Beach again and not think of you!!

      1. I’m glad to be held in your mind and heart. 🙂 Yes, I’ve been lucky to visit many east coast beaches and will consider your convincing plea for NJ. XD Hi ho, it’s off to the beach I go! 🙂

    1. Hi Richard! It really is a beautiful place. I grew up on the Jersey shore…and therefore…possibly take her for granted. I can’t imagine not living near the ocean!! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    1. Oh!! See that is what I mean! I take for granted the honor of being able to see an ocean that has so much beauty contained within it on a daily basis. It is amazing to me that so many people don’t have that ability…I vow to never take it for granted again…and I also dedicate this post to you…and hope that you get to visit the beach again in your life…real soon!!

      1. Ohh thanks, I do hope I get to, Just to smell the ocean, and feel the sand. The ocean has always just been amazing to me, mysterious and unatainable, to me stepping into the ocean is almost equal to stepping into another world.

  3. Beautifully expressed! It is like another world….certainly it has emotions…It changes color…it changes tempo…and it can be full of rage and destruction as well. She is full of many mysteries… 🙂

  4. Dearest Lorrie, how lucky you are to have such beautiful beaches where you live. Did you hear me sigh? I LOVE the ocean, and as a teen, lived in Florida near the ocean. Why I ever moved back North is still a mystery today. Hopefully in the time I do have left here on this earth, I will be able to live by the ocean again, in serenity, peace, and in a place where I can create to my Heart’s content. What better inspiration to create (for me) then water, sand, blue sky, palm trees, and sand. Ahhhhhh…..And oh, Bless you for this post. I sighed all the way through it. I can see why Brad misses what he does! Love, Amy

    1. Oh Amy…I hope and pray that you are one day able to be near the shore again! It would be really hard for me to move away…it is all I’ve ever known! My sister had to move to the mid west for her job…I feel for her…I know she misses it! Whenever you need a shot or two for a pick me up or inspiration…just holler!!! <3 <3

      1. Thank you, Lorrie. I actually am near water, Lake Erie and many many creeks and rivers, but the ocean is where my Heart lies. I could never be land locked for I just need water in my Life. My highlight this Summer, I plan on going to both the American Niagara Falls and the Canadian. I will make sure I have plenty of batteries and photo cards just in case. I know when I use my long range lens, my battery gets eaten very quickly. Yet it is the ocean that calls me. And your images of it bring solace to my soul. Thank you, Lorrie. Love, Amy

        1. Hi Amy…I’m so happy you get to go to Niagra!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THOSE PICTURES !!! Wow…it’s funny…I have never been yet it keeps coming up for me lately…I may have to plan a trip 🙂 Much love to you Amy!! <3

  5. Ahhh…wonderful memories! I used to visit this beautiful place as a child. What a wonderful respite. I live 2 hours away from Virginia Beach and couldn’t miss a summer without a trip to the sea! So glad I discovered your beautiful blog, Lorrie! All the best. ~Karen~

    1. Hi Karen…Welcome!! I’m so glad you found me 🙂 I wondered if anyone would respond that they had been to these beaches…and you did! I have not been to VA Beach once…and I loved it!! I actually went for my 50th birthday and it was the real start to my healing…good memories!
So happy to meet you 🙂 🙂

      1. What a happy thought to know that your healing began at Virginia Beach, Lori. I shall remember that next time I visit and I’ll breath in a wonderful cleansing smile – knowing the healing power of the ocean. be well. ~Karen~

  6. Thanks Me’lanie!! It is a wonderful place…I am very grateful to have been able to be here most of my life. You seem to have been many many places 🙂 Love to you <3

    1. we lived in Houston, TX – NASA area for 5 years(my beloved and brilliant hubby is a rocket & satellite scientist), but we started to travel to the US about 3 decades ago… last but not least: our son-in-law is American, his folks are from NJ and NY, he loves France, so he’s chosen and decided to live here: 🙂

      2. Thanx a bunch of lavender from my frontyard for your kind invitation that I deeply appreciate, Lorrie! <3 I'll surely let you know and keep you posted if we ever return to the East Coast, O.K. The point is that our US-relatives and friends adore France, so they'd rather come over than vice-versa… 🙂 btw, if you've read my "about", you know I'm direct, sincere, straight-to-the point, démonstrative, not hiding behind my fingers(LOL!) and never "cheesy" or "honeyed hypocrite"… 😉
