Exiled

The man in the tree

is not known by all

Many must walk by and never see him

He watches and wonders

where humanity is headed

He’s been stuck in this tree

for as long as he can remember

His hands tried to break free

but only became exposed roots

If he could speak he would tell those who would listen

to lead with their hearts

to curb the ego that might otherwise trap them

in the grips of bark or in the fires of hell

His pain is etched in every line on his face

He once was a man who hurt many

Locked in this trunk

he’s had eons to regret the lack of compassion

the urge to get ahead at the expense of others

The pain he inflicted

because he did not try

he did not know

because he did not care

He was so self absorbed

he did not see that the pain he caused others

locked his heart with no key

left him stranded inside this tree

The tree of wisdom is born of a fate

from a man who can not move

a man who is not seen

a man who must watch

and try to break free

Blessitude

Lorrie

9/3/14

I was in New York City last week.  This tree was in Central Park (my very first time in the park) and when I saw it, something made me stop and take a picture.  I did not see the “man” until I later looked at the photograph.  The poem just poured out of me with such sadness and regret for those who live a life with no awareness of the impact they have on others (and their environment.)

I wish for us all to live with awareness.  To come from love; for ourselves, for all others, for life!

  1. Brilliant work Lorrie, and what an amazing protuberance on the tree; do you see the man as having a beard?

    All best wishes.

    Hariod.

[‘Exhiled’ – typo, or a word I’m not familiar with?]

    1. Hariod…Thank you!! I did not see the beard…but now that you mention it I can see it so clearly!! I tried not to outline the whole thing because I wished for people to see what they would. And thank you for the heads up on the “typo”…yes…I will fix it now 🙂 Thanks so much for your beautiful support!! <3

    1. Thanks Kim…I love that you say that!! It gives me such pleasure to be able to convey what I see!! Hope that you are in a really beautiful place…the artwork you are presenting is so beautiful. I loved the post where you showed us your process!! Much love to you <3

    1. Thank you…through tears 🙂 I am amazed how some words are like an arrow that pierce the space of love…it releases a shot of adrenaline and the emotions can not be contained! Thank you <3

  2. Incredible! Sometimes faces appear in clouds… This man was severly punished! You’ve written a powerful parable dearrest Lorrie, yes very powerful… it is the law of cause and effect. He was selfish and unsensitive… selfishness and cruelty were his punishment, should I say his damnation… so, we’d better to open our eyes AND our heart, to see the beauties of the world we’re living in. I wish I were not “trunkized” like this poor man 🙂 🙂 I’d prefer to be its leaves dancing in the wind, touching the stars and night and listen the secrets of birds 🙂 thank you for this parable (and reminder), and much love to you 🙂 🙂
    ♥♥

    1. Much love right back to you dearest!!! Where do I begin? I think with your new word, “trunkized”…I agree with you…so much better to be a leaf and “dance in the wind!…touch stars…and listen to birds secrets!!” I think there is a poem there! But I thank you so much Frédéric, for you always understand exactly what I am trying to convey…you always “get” me!! Much, much love! <3

  3. I love Central Park and your post is beyond amazing: impressive and emotional… <3 once more: NATURE is the perfect artist and your super-imagination has done the rest – sooo well… congrats and keep on writing excellent poetry, Lady Lorrie! 🙂

    1. Hi Me’lanie! ! Thank you so much 🙂 Central Park was amazing…I can see why you love it! I really appreciate the very kind words…I will always try to keep writing “excellent” poetry. ..hopefully my “muse”…the eternal divine inspiration will always be with me!!? I’m really happy that you liked it! <3

    1. Thanks Kirt! 🙂 It was crazy when I looked at the photo in my phone I just saw him….and then the words…they just came. I’m really happy you stopped by and I hope everything is great in your world!! 🙂

  4. How incredibly sad Lorrie. My heart goes out to this poor soul and the many others like him.
You have connected what you see with you mind with your intuition and your heart. Very powerful and touching.
    Thank you Lorrie.
    Val <3

    1. Hi Val…yes! This is incredibly sad for me also…I can feel the pain of all the people who are “stuck.” We talk about the “tree of wisdom” and it made so much sense. The man is stuck there until he gains the wisdom of that tree. I get its a bit abstract but it is like a cycle. And the connection we have with every person…every thing! And I have always felt a kinship with trees 🙂 Thank you so much for your understanding and support 🙂 Much love to you <3

  5. A very fine tribute to the possessed tree, Lorrie. You told his story well!
Sounds familiar for some reason. 😉 I see he’s bald like me. Cheerz anyway! <3 UT

    1. I wondered what you would think UT….about my “man in the tree!” The way I see it…He is working his way out of the bondage of his soul!! He is almost out…I wonder how long it took him to learn the lessons that would free him???
Thank you for stopping by and commenting, Keith!! (I don’t see the resmblance 😉 <3

  6. The man in the tree is amazing, but the words that came from you after seeing the man in the tree is even more amazing. What a gift you have sweet Lorrie. I have missed your posts while I was away from blogging for awhile. Hugs!

    1. Hi Mags…Thank you!! Your words mean so much to me 🙂 I have missed you also…and I pray that your absence was due to something fun & wonderful! I thought about you and wondered why you weren’t showing up in my emails. Much love, and many blessings to you!! <3 <3

      1. No fun and wonderful, but things are getting better. Hubby and I are fine some friends and family members not so well. Hugs, love and blessings back to you!

    1. Hi Chris! I’m so glad you got to see him 🙂 I didn’t see it in person…but I found something interesting enough to take two photos (my friends think I take photos of the strangest things!) But when I looked at the photo….I didn’t even see a tree!!! Thanks for stopping by and commenting Chris 🙂

  7. Beautifully placed in the arms of freedom.. As we shine our light and love on the darkest of souls there is a freedom that prevails.. Seeing beauty in all . With emotional darkness comes compassion and love, we are all given this contrast to see, so that we remember to Love and all else drops away .. Love always finds a way…much love Lorrie beautifully expressed!

    1. Oh! Heart to Heart Robyn…your words are so beautiful and full of truth! We truly are given the contrast, and to think that they are opportunities to love just gives me such a great feeling! Thank you! I’m so happy you stopped by and added your incredible words…your reminder! Much love to you! <3

      1. It is your depth that had me have the words as we journey together. And you are welcome! Love Robyn You may have gotten this reply twice yet I wanted to make sure it went through

  8. You’re a creative machine Lorrie! I check a lot of blogs, and usually there are one or two new posts but you post almost every single day (sometimes multiple times)!! And with so much creative posts, it’s amazing. I really enjoyed this poem. I like your Haikus but this longer poem allowed your writing voice to come out. I enjoyed the pacing, descriptive words, introspection, and structure. I’m not big on poems that are rhyme, rhyme, rhyme. This was very pretty, great job!! 🙂

    1. Thank you Zachary!! You are very sweet to say those wonderful things 🙂 I wish I could take credit for it…but so many times I feel like a secretary taking dictation….the words come from my soul I believe!! And I rarely, if ever, edit them. I also can’t plan to sit down and write…they just come so I better be ready! 😉

Have a super blessed week my friend!! <3

    1. And hope is a beautiful thing!! Laurie, I also wish for everyone to go to that place inside…to their hearts…amazing what could be accomplished in this world! Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂 <3

  9. Dear Lorrie,
    Hugging this man.
<3 Hugging this tree <3 and hugging you and me.
Thank you for drawing the outline and sharing this. Thank you for responding to
    the nudge to share it.
I'll be back for some more meditation.
    xo Ka

    1. You are welcome any time, dear friend. Thank you, Ka. I have been a little absent, but you sparked my creativity a bit and I will post over the next couple days. Gratitude my friend <3

  10. Well, apparently I am true to my word when I said I’d be back (3 years later)! Haha! I was reminded again of this post from the link-back on the post that I wrote: https://fiestaestrellas.com/2015/06/09/art-is-happening-in-my-house-a-special-request-fill-this-tree/ and this very abstract project that I worked up because I was guided to, of course. I’ll be adding another post to link sometime today.

Thank you, Lorrie – it was quite perfect and wonderful for me to meditate on this man in his tree, once more. Such beautiful writing and heart expression from you! May this poor soul be forgiven… hugs and more hugs to us all, and may we overcome whatever need be to live and be free <3 !

    1. Yes! Beautiful, Ka! Thank you so much. I loved this photograph and remember the day so clearly!!
I will be looking for your new post…and I am going to follow your link above.
I just went through a horrifically painful week…a tooth abscess/root canal/ and I couldn’t keep ANYTHING DOWN…including pain meds…so so so painful!!! On the mend, my friend. Thinking good thought for you as we head into another weekend. Sending love and light <3

      1. 💚 I am so very glad that you are on the mend, also very sorry to hear of your pain – I’ve had one in the past that was awful. You know, that pain is really something. I’ve had different flare ups but it can be debilitating and it has been at times. I am so glad that you are coming out of it again and are on the mend. My very best wishes to you and warmest regards, always! Have a wonderful weekend free from pain 💚 and all the wisdom gained! Much love right back to you!

        1. Ah! Thank you, Ka!!! Yes…I have much to consider and am doing so much better…tired though. So I am not going to over do it (Like I usually do 😉
