From My Muse

Beautiful Muse

where have you gone?

I’m scared and lonely

without you

*

I though you would never leave

I counted on that

I banked on it

I woke every morning

and just assumed you would

always be there

*

My journal sits

and it’s getting dusty

the words

seem to have disappeared

It makes me sad

*

Until I remember

WAIT!

How many hats

can a lovely Muse wear

Only one at a time

*

I look to my left

and surprise…surprise

There’s another journal

this one does not have lined paper

no this one has lines that I put

on the blank page

Lines that my beautiful Muse guided

lines that create in a different way

Read the words

and don’t forget

the message says it all

I’m always here

I’ll never leave

Have faith in me

I can’t create without you

And my need to create

is all that there is

It lives inside of you

and it must come

for I live inside

I live in the universe

I long to create

I long to express

Trust Me

I will ALWAYS

Be There

I will never leave you

We will always work together!

Blessitude

Lorrie

The lesson I have learned over the past few weeks is that my Muse can change hats, but my Muse never leaves me!!  I have been inspired artistically lately by the art form called Zentangle.  When I looked at it I thought that I have been doing little pieces of this art my entire life.  I find an old envelope or scrap paper with “doodles” all the time.  My dear friend Melanie, from Humpty Dumpty Mural Magic, posted her Zentangle art and it gave me the courage to finally make one myself!

I find it a little “busy.”  But overall, I am happy with my first try 🙂  I was a little obsessed with completing it…and these days I “go with” whatever I “feel.”  I do find it funny that when I questioned where my Muse had gone…the answer was plainly written in my Zentangle Inspired art piece…and I also find it funny that my Muse had to “S-P-E-L-L  I-T  O-U-T” for me!  🙂

<3 Lorrie

P.S.  “I am inspired” is embedded in the art…I know it is there…but I thought it is a little busy and maybe not easily seen.

  1. Oh, how I love this!! Your drawing is so beautiful and your words so true…I feel like a part of me is missing when I do not have time to be creative…but sometimes He shows us different outlets to use our creative energy. Love it!!

  2. I love your artwork Lorrie!!! 🙂 It reminds me little of the free expression found in street art, I love art that is free and does not follow so many rules. I am so so happy that you are feeling inspired again, and that you continue you to create from your soul, I think it is the beauty in there, in the secret chamber of your soul, that inspires you, and that place will never go away 🙂 Lots of Love to you dear sister! <3 <3 <3

    1. Oh Trini!! Thank you so much <3
I don't believe in rules when it comes to art. I "follow" the art. To me…art…just like the words I write…are entities in and of themselves. I believe I am just the means by which they make themselves known!

Thank you for your beautiful support!! 🙂 🙂 So happy to see you <3

    1. Thank you…yes…This art form really leads you. But, for me, I always try to follow the art…any art form. Most times I feel that whatever I made…really made itself!! Thank you so much for commenting. Hope your day is filled with love!!

  3. How fun Lorrie! I love your new art form and hadn’t ever heard of Zentangle. Thanks for the reminder to keep open to new ways of allowing our muse to express. And thanks to Melanie for the impulse. Co-creation and community are wonderful. I’m glad to call this mine. XD

    1. Oh….Thanks Brad!! <3 My piece would have to be called "Zentangle Inspired" because apparently, Zentangle is very specific. I prefer to let the art go where it wants to 🙂 And yes, Melanie is awesome….wonderful writer….incredible artist….beautiful woman!!! I know your garden is an art form as well….that is one I love to look at….but my Muse doesn't go there!! 🙂 Much love Brad! <3 <3

      1. As you mentioned, there are many great ways to express. I’ve enjoyed photography and writing the most so far. In grade school I used to enjoy drawing. Maybe I’ll try this Zentangle stuff! XD

        1. Yes, Brad…try it…you’ll like it!! (remember that ad campaign? Can’t remember what it was for…)
Look up Zentangle…there’s lots of info. Or just grab a pen and paper and go for it!! It is a lot like meditation. And I agree…there are oh, so many ways to express!!! <3

  4. Writers are blessed…and cursed, at times. The desire to create, express, and yes…to “feel” is always knocking from within, even when we struggle to find that key which unlocks today’s “door” to sharing. The Lord will attend to our needs in this, and in all other ways!

    The True Light

    1. Oh…perfect point!! You see I know where my Muse comes from….and I know to TRUST!! (I just have momentary a lapse every now and then!! 🙂 ) I feel that I learn more every single day…and my goal for this year was to trust my “intuition” more…so this art piece was determined to be freed. I love the “I Am”….and I wanted to incorporate it into the art. I know how powerful these words are…and I believe to capture them in beautiful visual expressions is a good thing!!! <3 Thank you so much 🙂

  5. I’m like Brad, I hadn’t never heart of Zentangle! The word is fun! Your muse loves you, she’ll never leave you 🙂 as you have so beautifully written:
    for I live inside

    I live in the universe
    I long to create
    I long to express
    Trust Me
    I will ALWAYS
    Be There
    I will never leave you
    We will always work together!

I love these lines… I think that what we call “Muse” is a very poetical metaphor in place of the words “sensitivity”…

    I hope you’re well. THANK YOU 🙂 ♥♥♥♥

    1. Oh dearest!!! I am so happy to see you reply 🙂 I’m not sure when I first heard of “Zentangle” but what I love about it is it is a very meditative art form….you kind of go to a place of “Zen” while creating. I thank you for your kind words…and yes, I believe that what you said about our Muse being a metaphor for sensitivity is so true. It is our “connection” to all that is….that place that lives inside us and yet is everywhere….every thing. When connected it takes us places that are incredible!!

I am well! Just trying to fit in responsibility with the longings of my heart….the Muse speaks and I can not deny her!!! Much love to you….I miss you….but I know you are always there…we will always be connected! <3 <3 <3

    1. Hi Uncle Tree!! I love “cool doodles!!” And come to think of it…neato – frito isn’t too shabby either 🙂 I had fun with it UT…I feel a new one on the horizon 🙂 Hope your world is super duper…lots of love!! <3

  6. I love your post Lorrie! We are made in the image of a creative God and so He is our muse and loves to see what we do with the gifts He has given us. Like you, I’ve always liked to “follow my art,” and am so glad it finally led me to a place that gives me extreme pleasure and satisfaction. Listening to and following my Muse is as essential to me as breathing. Love and hugs, N 🙂 <3

    1. Oh Natalie! Thank you so much. I am so happy that you get extreme pleasure and satisfaction fulfilling your contract 🙂 I am with you…sometimes I am overwhelmed with the need to create! Essential…yes…it is essential!! And it is a gift from God!! 🙂 <3 <3

  7. Ohhhhh Lorie, it’s beautiful. You did this eh? Good job. Is this a new experience for you? I would looooooooovvvvveeeee to be artsy. I’m thinking of possibly trying something that would maybe ignite that in me. I’ve never been a good drawer, and haven’t experimented much with ‘visual’ arts, but would love to. Just gotta find the time.
As for the muse thing, oh my goodness – we are so on the same wavelength here. I have felt really down and uninspired this week myself. I love to create. I think we were all made to create. And when the ‘blahs’ get in the way, well, you know how it is.
I started to think to myself that ‘creating’ is not just about when I feel inspired or feel at peace or ‘up’, but it is also work. I can go ahead and wallow in my ‘lack’ of inspiration and creativity or I can say, “NO WAY!” and get myself down to the grind and work at it. I have a whole post that I even want to do on this.
Anyhow, so great to see you didn’t let the ‘flying’ muse escape you, but you caught it and said, ‘you get back here you little one’. I’m not done with you yet. Let’s get visual now.
Bless you immensely Lorrie, and ‘YOU GO GIRL’.
    🙂

    1. Hi Staci! I love your voice 🙂 I just know we could sit and talk for hours!! Thank you…and yes. This was my first Zentangle inspired art piece, although I’ve been doodling my whole life. I just never put it all together in one piece and called it art before 🙂 I have done many different art forms…I have to create things with my hands…I have to “make” something. ..always! If you have a desire, you should absolutely explore it…There are so many things you can do. I think that EVERY ONE can CREATE something! 🙂

Sorry about your low energy week…they will happen from time to time. But I love your approach to it:) Life is full of ebbs and flows…the key is to learn something no matter what energy you are in 🙂 Hope you have a super duper weekend! ! <3

          1. Yes, it’s a pretty good book. I haven’t read all of it yet, but I’m working through it, along with another book. I love that, “I have to create”.
            🙂

    1. I love it, Val! I am getting so much better at connecting with people…all people. I had a top on today that I did not know had a little writing on the top back. It was faint. Someone came up to me and said they loved it…it says “Love All” and it is the name of the clothing company. I thought it was even more awesome!! It gave me a wonderful message for the day!! <3
