The Door

images-6

There is a door

I see it in my mind’s eye

I have seen it before

but I had fear then

This time the door only gives me peace

This time I feel that as soon as I reach it

I will be able to put my hand on the knob

and twist

push

open

walk through

What lies beyond the door is not known to me

but I do know that it has beauty

It has peace

It is light

and it is full of love

So I walk

with no particular destination

Because the door is always there

no matter which way I turn

The journey does not matter so much

because I will reach for the door

the door with the light that seeps through the cracks

the door that is now a place of comfort

yes…the comfort of home

Blessitude

    1. Ahhh! UT! Nothing better than a response that leaves me guessing…and googling! 🙂 Thanks for the intro to Schrodinger’s cat…leaves many questions in my mind…but that is nothing new…I have a mind that CONSTANTLY asks questions. Quantum physics intrigues me…but always leaves me with more questions! Thanks for responding, Keith. Hope all is super in your world!! <3

  1. Beyond the door, I imagine there is what we have sown in this world… light, if light sowed light, darkness if darkness sowed … and as you are a being of light & love, you’ll find and imagine light & love behind the door… I also imagine there is our “true self”… and explanations & answers to our main questions… I love your poem dearest Lorrie… and also its presentation… & illustration (beautiful picture!!!) I hope you have a beautiful Sunday… Have a wonderful week, much love to you ♥♥♥

    1. Yes dear Frédéric! I believe you are correct…that only we as humans with an eternal soul can determine what is beyond the door. I think that is why I used to have fear about what lay beyond it…because there was so much fear in my soul. Now I know love…and once known…it is where my soul longs to be! Thank you so much for your beautiful words and undying support. ..you are a treasure to my heart!! <3 <3 <3

  2. I love the door metaphor Lorrie. 🙂 And the reminder for me that the light is there no matter what path I choose. Too often I fall into believing there is only 1 right path for me. Thanks for leading the way. 🙂

    1. Yes Brad! The light is always available to us…and the more we want it and see it…the more we will have it!! Thank you for your ever present support. ..I really appreciate you! 🙂 <3

    1. Thank you!! Doors are amazing…and we have so many meanings and metaphors that surround them. I was happy to find this photo…it is exactly what I wanted! Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂

  3. Oh this is wonderful Lorrie. There really is no place like home. And when I opened the door of my heart up and allowed God to take up residence, light just continues to shine and reveal and cheer.
Hope you’ve had a beautiful weekend.
    🙂 <3

    1. Hi Staci…you too! I had a great weekend 🙂 An open heart is a willing heart. Isn’t life wonderful when we recognize our creator lives within us!! Much love…hope your week ahead is full of blessings <3

  4. Great post, Lorrie! You keep right on heading towards that door and enter into the light. It will be the next step on your journey and will ultimately lead to yet again another door. And fear not for I am with you says the Lord! Hugs, N 🙂

    1. Oh Natalie…thank you so much for this reassurance!! I am so happy to be alive and to want to see what is behind the doors! And…when you just said this will lead to another door…ah!! That gives me comfort….that and your last line…yes!! <3 <3

  5. I love this post, especially the door picture. What a beautiful piece of writing!

I always love exploring a new place and looking at the doors, especially the older, more traditional ones. It always interests me to find out more about the features and the hidden meanings behind them as well!!

I wrote a post awhile ago about the traditional doors I found in Taiwan. Check it out if you are interested! http://foreignsanctuary.wordpress.com/2014/05/01/knock-knock-traditional-doors-in-taiwan/

    1. YES! And sometimes it takes a little longer than others to know that it is okay to walk through those doors….the bottom line is getting there…no matter how long it takes!! Thanks for commenting 🙂 I appreciate it! <3

  6. We all need to learn to enter the “uncomfortable zones” at times in life. This is especially true of Christians who are loved by God. Whatever awaits us, either good or bad initially, in the end all things work together for good to those who love the Lord!

    Good post, Lorrie!!

    1. Yes!! I know that there is great learning in the “uncomfortable zones” we just have to be willing to get down and get our hands dirty..so to speak! Thank you for commenting…you know I appreciate you! 🙂 <3

          1. Well I believe that we “reap what we sow.” You are a great model of the meaning behind such verses as this one:

            (Proverbs 11:18)

“A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.”

May your love shine through to others as a Christian woman first of all, and a tender hearted soul as well!

            Enjoy your day with “Blessitudes!”
