The Finished Product ~ Thanks For Your Help!

Thank you to all who voted for their favorite formation of the glass plates back in November’s post where I asked for help!  You have no idea how crazy it made me to have the plates lying on the floor instead of hung on the wall for all this time.

The final version, like most art, developed itself due to a few mechanical issues and the sheer size of it on the wall.  The #2 photo got the most votes, which made me happy because I was leaning toward that one from the start.  The final product is #2 with one plate missing, and two plates switched places.

It is a very large piece of art…and a complete departure from anything I have ever had on a wall before.  But it is HAPPY!  It reminds me of beautiful flowers looking out over the room.  It took only about 5 minutes to completely fall in love with them.  (And took only 6.5 hours and an unexpected trip to Home Depot to install them!)

Thank you all who voted…I hope you like them.  It was fun to do that post and see what people thought.  I loved reading the comments…especially the ones where people explained WHY they liked the one they liked.  I am so grateful to all who responded <3

I decided to include a photo of the coffee table below.  It was an art project of mine that took me quite a while to complete.  It is a mosaic under the glass.  I have done glass mosaics before and did not want to deal with cuts and shards so I tried to come up with a different medium that would look good but not hurt me!  One night I dreamt of “ribbons.”  When I woke, I thought it was a crazy idea…but then I thought I would give it a try.

The ribbons turned out kind of neat, I think.  It took FOREVER to complete though.  It is 2.5′ x 2.5′.  Each piece of the ribbon had to be cut off the roll and then glued on individually.  I, sometimes, choose projects without thinking it through completely!! 🙂

Thanks for looking!

  1. The plates look sensational Lorrie, and really bring a great ‘zing’ to the room as a whole. And the mosaic with the ribbons was well worth all of your time and effort; it is really quite exquisite. H <3

    1. Thanks dear Hariod! Yes…a zing!! And a little zing is good for everyone. They really do promote happiness in the room…I look at them and smile <3 And thanks for the compliment on the table!! 😉

        1. No worries, Kim…I understand completely…I am on day 4!! I tried to post for the past two days….and….no way!! I hope you get stronger every day!! <3

    1. Ellie!!! I would LOVE to come over and help you!! Thank you so much…you gave me a giant smile! Hope you are adjusting to your new life in your new environment. 🙂 Make any snowmen lately?? <3

      1. Ha . . . very funny!!! Oh Lorrie, I feel so bad for our poor little dogs! At first my Lhasa frolicked in the snow, never having seen it before. Now when she has to go out I must put on her jacket and even little boots – she looks miserable and we don’t walk two miles every day together anymore, And our Cocker looks like the scene in A Christmas Story when Ralphie has to wear that stupid pink bunny outfit. “Aaaa, Mom”

But l know that this too will pass and it will be Spring again. But other than the dreary weather, everything is going GREAT, God is wonderful and we are very blessed. Thanks for your support and blessings to you,

        1. Oh, Ellie! Your poor little babies! I don’t mind “visiting” the snow and cold anymore….as long as it is only for a few days. The thing that used to get to me was that everything was gray!! I do much better in Technicolor Florida…

I am so happy that everything is going well for you and your family. I know you prayed and pondered the move for some time. I think that we have to answer certain calls in our life and that, as you said, the weather will pass. And soon it will be spring…and there will be a rebirth. And that is one of the most amazing times of year!!

Much love to you Ellie! <3 <3

    1. Thank you Julie!! Honestly, you wouldn’t believe how many hours were spent juggling them around…trying to make them fit…overlapping each other. In the end, the plates almost had a mind of their own and spoke where they wanted to be. I was just the laborer 🙂 Thanks Julie!! <3

  2. your room looks so cheerful Lorrie, I love it. And how wonderful that you had an idea to create something that didn’t hurt you. And your picture looks like a mosaic, I would have never guessed it was ribbons. how very creative!

    1. 🙂 Thank you!! That is funny to read …isn’t it? Yes…I love glass…but I have been “cut” a time or two working in the medium 🙂 It was my only project in ribbons…kind of like the sound of art made out of ribbons also. A couple friends keep telling me to make more, and I would love to…I just have so many projects that I have not finished…not to mention the time it takes here to blog!! Oh boy, I need a few more hours in the day (or maybe just need to manage my time better!)

Thank you so much for commenting 🙂 Many blessings <3

  3. The wall looks truly beautiful, Lorrie! And your new project turned out perfect as well, but I can see how much work it must have been!

    1. Hi Tiny!! Thank you so much 🙂 Yes…it was quite labor intensive. I didn’t break any speed records getting it done either!!! I am very “emotional” in my projects…I only work on what I feel inspired to. So that table took about 2 years…if you can believe that. Patience is not my strongest suit in life…except where art is concerned. I always seem to find a rather long painstaking art form that stays in my world for much time 🙂 Hope all is super in your world…many blessings!! <3
