Perfection

my-flower-art

“Thus we end this Course with love given and love received in truth.  You are the learner here until you realize that you are love.  You then become the teacher of what you are.  Your mind and heart join in the wholeheartedness in the embrace.  You are home, and there you will stay forever.”  ~ A Course of Love   32.2

I Am not perfect

No…No

Far from it

The life I led is full of guilt and shame

I Am not perfect

No…No

Far from it

Looking to the world to place the blame

I Am not perfect

No…No

Far from it

Hid my gifts so well I couldn’t see

I Am not perfect

No…No

Far from it

Had no idea what lived inside of me

I Am the student

Hmmm…Hmmm

I’m learning

My heart is open and I know its pain

I Am the student

Hmmm…Hmmm

I’m learning

What is lost makes room for all I gain

I Am the teacher

Ah Ha!

I said it

All I need is right in front of me

I Am the teacher

Ah Ha!

I said it

Honoring the love inside is key

I Am perfection

Yes…Yes

I own it

The things I do make sense inside each place

I Am perfection

Yes…Yes

I own it

I walk in love and always feel His grace

I Am so thankful

Oh…how

I feel it

If I ever have the urge to roam

I Am so thankful

Oh…how

I feel it

I know that I will never leave my home!

Blessitude!

  1. This is both wonderful and profound at once, dear Lorrie. Somewhat tangentially, it made me think of an adage used in Buddhism, and specifically by Shunryu Suzuki. He wrote a book called Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind, in which the central idea is that we never ought hold onto things we think we’ve learned as truths, as if they were in fact ultimate truths within themselves. So, as you suggest in your lovely piece, we must allow ourselves to be unknowing students until that ultimate truth (not keen on the T word), or Love (as you describe it here), arrives. Until then, everything is provisional, so I understand. If and when that happy day arrives, then I suppose what the ACOL statement is saying is that our presence and actions themselves become teachers – not that we become pedagogic. Am I understanding the point correctly? H <3

    1. Hi Hariod! I’m so sorry you ended up in my spam 🙁 🙁
I do check there once in a while so I would have found you eventually! I have had some strange WP happenings lately…hope they fix whatever bugs they are dealing with!

In answer to your question, I say YES, even though I am not an “expert!” I think that when we come to realize, not just with our thinking minds but with our BEing, that we ALL BElong, we all have a piece of the essence of the Divine (which is what I call Perfect Love) then our thoughts and actions simply become organically what we might wish “to learn and then teach” with our thinking mind. Phew…I hope that makes sense 😉

Hope you are well! Many blessings to you, dear Hariod!!

  2. What a beautiful post Lorrie! I love the quote, your empowering and honest words and your beautiful painting. I am so glad that you have found the love of your heart. Welcome home my friend. 🙂 May we walk in fields of love helping each other to rise in oneness. <3

    1. Ah! Brad, your words are like a poem! Thank you for your beautiful support. I think we are all so lucky to be connected and to be able to share each other’s love and energy! Blessings dear friend! ♡

    1. Ah! Val 🙂 Happy, happy smiles from me! I think the most amazing thing is that I am learning to feel this love even when times are rather challenging. I am BLESSITUDE ♡♡

  3. So True Lorrie, we can never measure up to the Worlds idea of perfection it just keeps changing but we are to Aim to be Perfected in God’s Love which He explains about in the Scriptures and we are wise not to reject His Guidelines as some do and instead trust in their own or in others understanding which contradicts God’s Truth or when they give half Truths that lead to confusion and in the end fear too.

1John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but Perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made Perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore Perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is Perfect.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the Man/Woman of God may be Perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be Perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in Peace; and the God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

    1. You really amaze me, Anne. Thank you for the caring work you do and for adding here to my blog. I love that you have so much knowledge and that you find the perfect verses to go with whatever the main feeling of a post is.

I hope that this post did go along with what we communicated about yesterday. This felt to me like it was part of my answer to you and that it was something I had already had in my mind to post today I thought the timing was…well…”PERFECT!”

Lots of blessings being sent to you! Have a wonderful week!

  4. I love this, Lorrie! So powerfully from the heart. I love the compassion for self in it. And I love the artwork!

  5. You may not be perfect, but you are perfect to me. This is such an incredible post about “being yourself” and true to that self. Lifelong learning, in it’s many forms, is a great core value and self-acceptance is such a great moment of liberation. Paying tribute to your beautiful free soul and spirit. xoxo Harlon

    1. Hi dear Harlon! Your words always touch me to the very core of who I Am! It has taken me quite some time, Harlon, to even come close to feeling this perfect kind of love. I was so blocked from years of living with no light. You wrote that it is a great moment of liberation when we find self-acceptance…I couldn’t agree more! So free to feel and learn…yes…it feels so perfect! 😉 ♡♡

  6. Being honest with yourself – not always easy and something I found much harder when I was younger… One of the advantages of getting older is it does get easier to look deep within… A lovely poem and a lovely painting! x

    1. Hi Wendy! It does get easier doesn’t it? Do you think that is because we actually learn more about ourselves? I think maybe…
Thank you so much for your kind words. Have a super week 🙂 ♡

      1. Yes – I think it probably is Lorrie.. I remember early in my marriage thinking I was always right… only to discover the truth – I Wasn’t!! haha – it taught me a lot though.. so now I try to put the shoe on the other foot and see what it looks like from a different angle and then question myself about whether I’m still ‘right’… usually not! Thanks for a great post Lorrie and hope you have a brilliant week too! x

  7. Wonderful train of thought…discovery and transformation. Loved it, Lorrie! And your art is beautiful! Have a wonder-filled week <3

    1. Oh, thanks so much, Helen! 🙂 I’m really happy you liked it. I don’t usually do the rhyming thing, but when a poem starts that way I have to go with it. Blessings for a super wonderful week! ♡

  8. very nice and realistic, as usually, LLL = Lovely Lady Lorrie… <3 speaking of perfection or being perfect, we say in French:"perfection is not to be reached or found in our world…" 🙂 to me, Lady Nature alone does reach perfection, as it can and it does everything…
    * * *
my very best & lots of inspiration… stay healthy and fine, optimistic and positive… 🙂

    1. I love your energy, Me’lanie! And I agree wholeheartedly that Lady Nature reaches perfection…ALWAYS!! and l like your French saying…but even in our imperfection all is exactly as it should be…and in a strange way…perfect 😉

      Many blessings to you ♡

  9. Beautiful post, Lorrie. Honoring the Love inside is indeed key! Your post made me think of this quote from A Course in Miracles which I feel is deeply related to what you have described here… It has long been one of my favorites, and has stuck with me. (Excuse the male pronouns throughout. One of the beautiful shifts from ACIM to ACOL I think, is the enhancement of the feminine.)

“You are the work of God, and His work is wholly lovable and wholly loving. This is how a man must think of himself in his heart, because this is what he is.” (T-1.III.2)

    Peace
    Michael

    1. Yes! And what a lovely quote to stick with you, Michael! I think the world could use this quote on a daily basis! Sometimes it is hard to remember to be wholly loveable and loving. With all the learning and enlightenment I have enjoyed, I very recently acted in a way that does not resonate with my soul and the resultant guilt and shame would have been much worse had I not stopped in my tracks and offered myself forgiveness and love.

Thank you so much for adding your energy here. Blessitude ♡

  10. Dearest Lorrie.. I felt that Transformation as you travelled through those corridors of your mind.. 🙂 And I felt your joy at the discovery of your Perfection my friend.. LOVE is indeed the Key.. May it always unlock your heart to see the beauty that is held within..

Love and Blessings dear sister xxx <3

    1. You ALWAYS make me feel so good, Sue! You have a very gentle way of stimulating the heart strings with truths you state. Thank you for your beautiful energy. The piem was a bit of a departure from my usual writings, but hey…I’m just the secretary taking dictation 😉 I worried when I wrote “I AM perfection” because it sounds like ego…but I know you know it comes from a place of pure love…and honor…and acceptance…in EVERY MOMENT…because whatever is happening is relevant and just!!
Much love to you as this week nears its end. ♡♡♡

  11. Dear Lorrie, what a fascinating body of work with power, integrity and I love the momentum. I felt these words and these words had meaning and relevance for me. Thank you for contributing to the soundtrack of my life. Truly inspired, Harlon

    1. Thank you dear Harlon! It was a bit of a departure for me…but it felt like it had to be expressed. Just be happy I don’t “SING” the contributions to your soundtrack…I really thought I could carry a tune…but someone taped me…and I was shocked! HeHe…can’t say it has stopped me from trying 😉
      Much love to you friend!
