HOW LONG IS AN INSTANT?

HOW LONG IS AN INSTANT

How long is an instant? As long as it takes to re-establish perfect sanity, perfect peace, and perfect love for everyone, for God and for yourself. As long as it takes to remember immortality, and your immortal creations who share it with you.

A Course in Miracles 15 – 14: 1-3

I like the sound of that. That is one pretty impressive instant! To think that is possible makes me believe in miracles. And I do believe in miracles as I see them every day.

When is the last time you witnessed a miracle? Do you believe in miracles?

I see many things that could take the belief right out of a person. I read about atrocities that are almost too much to bear. At times it seems that it is no longer possible to bring people together in peace, love, and harmony.

But I refuse to let that kind of thinking control my mind. I prefer to see the good in people and the beauty that surrounds me. And if that is what I want to see then the chances of actually seeing that are greatly increased.

The truth that we are all one – that we are all connected, makes more sense to me every day. Maybe it might take more than an instant, but the more we connect on the level of love the stronger we become.

If we can truly change our world by changing our thinking what do you think would happen if we got together for good?

I see miracles every day because I expect to see them. I hope you do too!

Blessitude

  1. That’s a wonderful definition of an instant! I want to believe in miracles, but other than nature, not much in my current life speaks to miracles. I’m glad you can hold the space for love, miracles, and seeing the good Lorrie. Thankfully, I do still find simple joys and moments. Hugs…

    1. Thank you, Brad. And I can hold the space for a lot of things including for you…so that when you get past the current struggles you will be able to see all the miracles teeny and large!
I know how easy it is to let our energy and our sight be challenged by the negative, but it is a numbers game, and it is so easy to “fall down” (gravity helps that!) The real challenge is trying to keep the positive in the midst of struggle. I send you all good energy and lots of love and light!

  2. Lorrie I wish there was a LOVE. Button for this post. I resonate deeply with every word you wrote and I love the definition from A Course in Miracles. Every moment we live we get to choose our reality by what we focus on. When we focus on fear we’ll get more of it. When we put our energy and attention on the beauty of the world, on love, compassion and unity, yes, I believe that’s when miracles appear. A beautiful post so thank you. Sending you much love and warm hugs from across the ocean. xx 💙

    1. Hi Miriam 🙂
Thank you my friend. I love A Course in Miracles and when I am so moved by the meaning of the words I just have to share. It’s hard to explain because sometimes it is the words…but many times it is the feeling in the words!
I agree 100% with you. We truly direct our story and the most basic level is what we think about…and what we see! I see a lot of wrong things but I have to limit that because I want to stay in the energy of miracles!
Much love and light, Miriam. I hope things are going well in your new digs!! <3
      (Loved the hug!!!)

  3. Hi Lorrie,

That is a great quote! I’ve come to appreciate more and more the definition of miracles in ACIM–as a shift in perception from separation to unity–and think everything is possible from that “instant.” I think we have VERY little idea of what is available to us in such a state, and just writing this I’m reminded of another passage in ACIM. I can’t remember it exactly, but it has to do with how casually we regard our thoughts… and how this perpetuates our difficulties by being a sort of implied statement about the powerlessness of our minds.

To have a unified mind is to have clarity of thought is to free the creative power of the mind!

    With Love
    Michael

    1. Yes, Michael! With the state of divisiveness in our country lately it sure feels like we could use a lot more unity! I’m certain that is why this particular passage spoke to me this morning. I am having a hard time with the prevalent energy of separation. I also know that I need to concentrate more on unity…and peace…and love…because I will see more of what I expect. It’s just a little difficult at times to not fall into the negative.
Here’s to a unified mind!!! Thanks for adding your energy here! I’ve missed you. Sure hope the book finds a home soon!!

  4. The instant where our world changes and we see our small selves as separate, we connect to the unity of Presence/Source/God/Love.
Thank you for this reflection Lorrie 💕

    1. Hi Val. I felt that moment so beautifully and had such clear vision! It felt good to share and connect with those who understand 😊 Hope all is well in your world 💜

  5. Wow, Lorrie, you are my soul sister. One of my favorite tenants is: “The more you look for something, the more likely you will find it.” Changing our thoughts can definitely change how we feel. It isn’t always easy, but it is amazing what a difference it can make. And we absolutely have the power!!
I love your words, I love your blog, and I love your positivity. Keep it going and know that I am cheering for you with every post – every step of the way!!

    1. Thanks dear Judy! What a happy day…the day we connected! I know your beautiful soul knows this. I know that you only got where you are because you believe this! We are here for such a short time and sometimes when I think of the time I wasted…UGH!!! I prefer not to go there! Forward movement…one step in front of the other 😉 I am happy I am on this journey with you!!
      Sweet Blessings my friend 😊💜

      1. It’s a wonderful journey to share with you, Lorrie! Of course, nothing was wasted because it led us to where we are today – and it’s a beautiful place to be! 😘💕💕💕
But trust me, I have moments where I wish I hadn’t suffered the way I did. I’m just thankful it’s behind me now.

        1. Me too, Judy!! Buy it made us strong women who have gone to the depths of despair…and come out the other end. That makes us able to help others!!
          Have a super Blessed day😊💜

    1. Yes, Ann! It’s funny because when I was young I was very aware of this. And then all the years in between sort of blurred the lines of awareness. I just wish the collective energy could turn back towards love because it sure feels like we leave it alittle more each day.
Hope you have a wonderful week! 😊💜

  6. I do believe in miracles too Lorrie. Small ones and big ones, little surprises in your day. and sometimes, just what you need in the moment, comes your way, like a smile from someone or an encouraging word from a friend. All of this can help you reframe the moment and change your outlook.

    1. YES, Linda…yes to all of that! You’ve nailed it. Some people expect a miracle to be a giant thing that is impossible to notice. But like you said, it is IN the noticing where we can find even the tiniest of miracles. They ALL MATTER ..and they all have the power to help us.
Sending you a giant smile and a big hug too!! 😊💜

  7. Hi lovely Lorrie! Yes to miracles and yes to instants that change everything! I’m ready for one of those instants about now actually✨. I know it will come in divine timing though, not my timing :0).

    1. Keep your eyes and heart open because I am certain it is on the way 😉 And I send all good energy and love and light to you Kristen! Divine timing is EVERYTHING!! 💜

  8. Thank you for this uplifting insight. I read this around the same time I was trying to opt out of notices from my phone company and got caught in a loop where they couldn’t find my account. You helped me take a step back. We desperately need good moments and good news to balance the atrocities and even the seemingly small events that try to take away our peace. Since mainstream media networks focus so heavily on the horrors and conflicts, I collect good news items for my Tuesday post. I’m taking a deep breath as I read the “instant” quote with deep gratitude for your refreshing wisdom. Thank you, Lorrie.

    1. It amazes me how easily I can fall back in to old habits, JoAnna! Being aware of our thoughts, actions…and feelings is a full time job. I’m happy this quote could help you 😊 And I need to get over to your site for some good news posts!!! I am traveling today…I get to spend some time with my son…we will celebrate Thanksgiving a little early…and I am so excited. I will pretty much be unplugged so won’t be over until I return.
Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and good luck finding those good news posts!!! I think it’s really important! 😊💜

  9. A wonderful post, Lorrie, and I very much like your philosophy of “I see miracles every day because I expect to see them…” Bringing those miracles to life with your thoughts and desires ~ an admirable way to live 🙂

    1. Hi Randall 😊 Thank you my friend. I have to say that it is a better way to live than the alternative. And I know this because I lived THAT way for far too many years!
I’m not perfect at it, but the more I can concentrate on the good things the more good things appear.
Here’s to keeping our eyes on the prize…always believe in miracles.
Hope all is well in your world! 😊💜

  10. I couldn’t agree more with these sentiments, dear Lorrie. I believe that what we focus on..grows, so if we concentrate on the goodness, kindness, peace and beauty, we will see them increase. Our thoughts do indeed create our world. Hugs and blessings coming to you 💙💜

    1. Hi Isabella 😊 Yes! To everything you wrote here. It is such a huge responsibility that is easily forgotten as it can be easier to believe that things just happen. When we have to sit with the idea that we design our world it can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow.
Hope your world is full of peace and beauty💜
