Birth of Blessitude

Blessitude

“So blessed and full of gratitude!”

Words have power.  The things you think and the words you say, help shape your reality.

Around my 50th birthday, many things had converged in my life and it was clearly obvious that my fingers were losing the grip on the rope held over the cavernous abyss where, if I fell, I would have been lost forever!

The tiniest voice of my soul whispered and I so wanted to listen.

Change.  It was necessary.  I just didn’t know if it was possible.

I was told by a very dear woman who was so instrumental in the “launch” of this journey that my email was the first thing I needed to change.  The old one was a joke, but it eluded to a very painful time in my life.

So I thought about what I could change my email to that would be something that was positive, not only in that moment, but something that would grow with me as my journey unfolded.  I wanted it to signify a state of mind ~ a state of being ~ a state of joy!!  I wanted it to be a gentle reminder of not only what is, but of what is possible.

I worked very hard for about a week during the summer of 2011 to find this perfect word.  I had pages and pages of words that I liked and felt like they had good energy.  Then I thought, ‘what do you feel right now in this moment?’  And just like that, I said, “I am so blessed and full of gratitude!”

“Blessed” and “Gratitude” jumped off the page at me and I wrote them next to each other and BAMMM! “Blessitude” was born!  And I LOVED it!!  It just felt so right.

I changed my email immediately, to some joking from well meaning friends who took to calling me “Faith.”  But I didn’t care, and to be honest I didn’t mind being called “Faith” either ;)!

I had no idea that I would create a new word when I started the process.  My initial wish that “Blessitude” would grow with me has been granted.  I simply adore when I see someone here on my blog writes it back to me.  And I believe that “Blessitude” will continue to grow and become the state of being of the majority of the population as love and grace grow!!  I wish you all BLESSITUDE!! <3

  4. Hi, Lorrie,

Thanks for following my blog. Apropos the above quotes; I am a little more hopeful, my dad used to say “When poverty comes in the front door love goes out the back” but a wise minister at my wedding spoke about forgiveness – which at the time seemed strange to use as a theme for a wedding sermon. Over 40 years we have both discovered how to maintain and grow our love, and to forgive each other, and more importantly ourselves. Tony

    1. Hi Tony…Welcome!!! I just love your comment! And how beautiful to have such a strong bond with your soul mate 🙂 It has been life changing for me…forgiveness. I am so happy you stopped by and I just love your art!! Blessitude 🙂

      1. Thanks! Isn’t it amazing how close we become to our followers? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to create a town where we could all live together happily ever after? 🙂 Oh wait . . . that’s Disney World! sigh, too expensive – we’ll just have to wait till we get to heaven then . . .

    1. Welcome!! And thank you for your kind words. I am amazed at how far away from love humans can stray. I look forward to reading yours as well:) Blessitude!

  5. Obviously others can see how special you are, Lorrie! The awards are great, but the greatest of your “awards” is God’s grace. It’s is the best award any person can have! But then, you already know that!

    Have a marvelous day…

    1. You are so sweet! I didn’t know how not to accept the awards in the beginning. And I am grateful that people have thought of me, but it isn’t in my heart to accept them anymore. You hit the nail on the head…my only reward is God’s Grace!! It is so beautiful and something I didn’t accept for many years. But now I know what it feels like! Much love…and many blessings for a wonderful weekend!

      1. You know, I’ve “blogged” on a several other sites…from sports, to news, to health. But I started out years ago on religious matters, and have come back to that.

I accepted several writing assignments in the past, along with a handful of “awards,” and felt very thankful that readers and other writers felt me worthy. But now, I have noticed that many “faith writers” don’t accept awards.

Many of them feel the work of the Lord is the greatest “award” of all…and they give the praise to Him. I’m not saying faith writers are wrong in accepting awards, it’s just a matter of personal choice.

Congratulations to you, Lorrie, and to everyone who blogs for the Father! The accolades of other people are super, but the work of the Lord is special in its own way.

Thanks Lorrie, and have a wonderful day…

  6. If you are up for another award, I’d love to nominate you for a very appropriate one. Many of my blogging friends are as close as sisters and I consider you one of them. I’ve been nominated for the “Sisterhood of the World Award” and I’d love to pass it on to you. It seems to fit you perfectly, being a world traveler with many followers around the world as well. I’ll be posting my blog tomorrow and hope you’ll accept? The rules are fun and it’s a great way to discover many things about followers. Hope so! Blessings back,

    1. My dear Ellie! I am so honored you thought of me!! I hate to say ‘no’ but I have not been participating in awards…and I kind of just accepted one without a time limit. So please let me say, Thank You…Thank You! And maybe, not in the very near future I will be able to accept. I hope that everything is wonderful in your world!!! <3

      1. Oh Lorrie it doesn’t matter to me how long it takes, I wanted you to know how much I appreciate you and how encouraging you have been to me. Being a Sister to the World is definitely a time-consuming task as we both know, 🙂 therefore I certainly understand and appreciate you. Blessings,

        1. Your dear soul shines through your words, Ellie!! I hope your world is brimming with love and beautiful connections! Thank you for your incredible support…I really appreciate yoy!! ♡
