As I sit with my thoughts
And a heart’s lifetime longing
I remember the pain
Of the questions
The longing of the soul
The fear that life somehow
Could not go on
And in the quiet time
And stillness
When I allow my truth
To touch Spirit
I am transformed
In this moment
I am blessed with the truth
That love is everything.
So much love!
I saw a John Denver tribute band recently. It was a wonderful concert and it brought back such heart felt memories of a beautiful soul who created in the energy of Spirit and left this earth way too soon!
If you ever get the chance to see: “TAKE ME HOME – THE MUSIC OF JOHN DENVER STARRING JIM CURRY,” I wholeheartedly recommend it. CLICK HERE to go to their website and view their concert dates. You will be transported back to a time when this magnificent musician/lyricist performed his heart-felt messages in concert.
The band performed a song that I had never heard before. The singer, Jim Curry was accompanied only by a track of a piano solo by Peter Kater. This song, THE WANDERING SOUL, was first performed at a concert in Milwaukee, WI on 4/10/92, and it was never released before John’s death in 1997.
Here is a YouTube video where John performed the song live at the Windstar Symposium, 1995. It is one of the only recordings of this beautiful song. Enjoy!
The words touched my soul so deeply, as tears rolled down my cheeks. They speak to what we so desperately need in this world right now.
John Denver was an incredible talent who cared deeply about life. Here are the lyrics to the song which when read without music, is a masterpiece poem that every person needs to hear.
THE WANDERING SOUL
In this magic hour of softening light
The moments in between the day and the night
The instant when all shadows disappear
The distance in between the love and the fear
There’s a longing deep within the wandering soul
It’s like the half that understands it once was whole
Like the two who only dream of being one
Like the moon whose only light is in the sun
There’s a danger in forever looking outside
You start to believe that all your prayers have been denied
And you forget the sound of your own name
And thus begins the suffering and the pain
I wanted an answer, I wanted a way
I wanted to know just what to do and what to say
I wanted a reason, I want(ed) to know why
Can there never be heaven right here on Earth and peace inside
Inside my heart
Deep in my soul
Within each part
And in the whole
There’s a promise in the journeys of the mind
You begin to believe that there are miracles you will find
And that someday you’ll remember who you are
The seed within a bright and shining star
That’s like the flame that lives within a hungering heart
That only awaits a gift of love for it to spark
Into a fire that burns forever, endlessly
Like the river that can’t help but meet the sea
In this magic hour between the dark and the dawn
In the space between the silence and the song
Suddenly the mystery is clear
That love is only letting go of fear
Love is the answer and love is the way
Love is in knowing just what to do and what to say
And love is the reason, love is the why
And love is in heaven right here on Earth and peace inside
Inside your heart
Deep in your soul
Within each part
And in the whole
Love is the answer and love is the way
Love is in knowing just what to do and what to say
Love is the reason, love is the why
And love is in heaven right here on Earth and peace inside
I send you all love and peace and hope these words touched your soul just like they touched mine. We have the power to change the world!
Blessitude!

How absolutely beautiful Lorrie. I’ve just listened to this with my husband, having woken up just a short while ago, what a special way to start the day. I always loved John Denver’s music but I’ve never heard this one and, wow, does it really speak to my soul. Goosebumps and yes, a few tears too. Love is indeed the answer. Sending you oodles of it my friend. ❤️❤️ xx
Oh, Miriam! So happy you could start your day with this message of love!! John Denver was always a favorite of mine. When I saw the tribute band I was torn, as they sometimes don’t hit the mark. But this man even looked like him and for a few moments of the night I was transported back in time. When he sang this song…the line “There’s a longing deep within the wandering soul, It’s like the half that understood it once was whole.” AH!!!!! My heart perked right up and I just couldn’t believe the words I was hearing. It was a sweet message for my soul. So, I knew I wanted to share it here because I don’t think many people have ever heard it. Such prolific song writing!!
Hope things are going well for you, Miriam. I will be over to see what is going on in your world…and where in the world you are!! <3
Beautiful lyrics. They really touched my soul too Lorrie. So very grateful you shared, it sounds like it was a brilliant tribute to a truly gifted man who shared so much love in his lifetime. Hugs my friend. ❤️ xx

Hi Val…I’m happy you enjoyed this song. I think it speaks directly to my soul because I have been feeling this kind of incredible love so freely lately. I am Blessitude!!
Hope that you are well <3
That was wonderful Lorrie! Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. I’ve always loved John Denver, he was so talented, and so energetic, he did so many things in his life. And yet, he was also a deep thinker, an ever searching soul, never giving up trying to find solace, peace and love. it’s so tragic that his life ended so abruptly. But so few of us accomplish as much as he did in the short time he was here. God rest his soul. I’m thankful he shared his journey with us, in these very personal words and wishes. He put into words and music what we all feel. Hope you are doing well dear friend. Much love sent your way.
Oh, Linda <3 Your words are a beautiful tribute to John. He was a magnificent human who lived life to the fullest, and in the process left us all with a treasure trove of music and lyrics that are so deep and meaningful. I was kind of surprised hear that he wasn't very well known outside of the U.S. Surely there are many who would benefit from connecting with his music now ;)
I was so happy to see you in my inbox...and thrilled that you know John's music and life.
I am doing really well, and hope the same for you <3

Hi Sue!! Thank you! I was so guided to share this message, and I knew the people who would be touched deep into their soul…you being one of them for sure! Today, I have not been able to get the song out of my head…Love is the Answer!!!!! An earworm with a particularly powerful message…LIFE IS SO GOOD!!
I always loved his music, John Denver, and was saddened by his untimely death. But his music lives on. It’s just too bad that this one was never recorded…Maybe they can do it like they just made The Beatles last song…whoever “they” are! 😉
All good things to you, Sue. Sure hope all is super in your world <3
