What is it I don’t see?
What is it that lives so deep inside that it permeates any thought to change
There is a resistance
Something that had seeds planted
These seeds have grown and put down roots
Roots that are strong
Roots that hold on for dear life while I try to pluck them out
It seems I grab a stalk and pull as hard as I can
And it breaks
Just above the surface
And then just in case I wasn’t sure I didn’t get the whole thing
It gives a full on – in your face – no denying it – reminder
That I’ve tried – and I failed
On a different day
I might have been devastated by this news
But I am not
I have decided to view this day as one of great worth
Because I tried
I may have failed in eradicating these thoughts completely
But I won
Because I have shown a spot light on the area that needs my attention
The light shines on the stubborn root that refused to be pulled
But on this day
I see clearly
And I recognize what I need to do
And I say congrats to the root for winning the battle today
Because I know I will win the war!

You will win the war
Because you’re like
The morning star

Thank you Lorrie 🙂
Oh how I love that dearest Fre’de’ric!!! “The Morning Star of Blessitude!” Yes … It is a “keeper!” It sounds like the title of my poetry book 🙂 <3 <3
Excellent Lorrie! Waging war against the roots of bitterness and pride and victimization is endless. That’s why we need to take EVERY thought captive into obedience to Jesus. The neat thing is that God promises that “He that began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.” You are absolutely right about just recognizing that the root is there. That, I believe, is the grace of the Holy Spirit. The beginning of a great work inside. Here’s to winning the war!
Thank You!! Thank you so much. It warms my heart to read your words…to know that what I felt is understood is beautiful…to hear your words about “The beginning of a great work inside” priceless!! I am Blessitude!!! <3 <3
;D
In my garden, weeds grow amongst the flowers. Every day, I spend precious moments pulling the weeds out, knowing they will return — and that’s okay — because to eradicate them completely, I would have to poison the earth with chemicals that would kill all life — so I lovingly spend time in my garden pulling out the weeds — the secret is to do it without judging them for being who they are. 🙂
Love this poem.
Ah Louise!! Yes. It is the judgment part that gets in the way, isn’t it? I embraced the roots that are so hard to pull out…because I know they put the spotlight on the things that I still have much work to do on. It is the process of recognizing the roots that has really empowered me…and you are correct…we can’t “kill” them, for a piece of us would die in the process. But if we spend time in our garden lovingly pulling weeds every day, I dare say it will be one fine, magically beautiful place!!! Much love to you <3 Thank you so much for adding! 🙂
I have faith in you Lorrie. Your courage, love and persistence will prevail. Similar to Louise, I’m learning to befriend my weeds and challenges. They are part of the process. Fighting myself and life is a recipe for struggle. I’d rather grow love and peace. 🙂
Hi Brad!! Yes…let’s grow love and let’s grow peace in our beautiful gardens!!! Thank you Brad…you are always so supportive and loving and kind. I appreciate you so much and I know you are befriending your weeds and challenges…that is also why I know you will be successful in your “war!” And just for the record, I did not want to use the word war…because I don’t like it…but it seemed fitting for what it felt like. Love to you Brad! <3
Reblogged this on mihran Kalaydjian and commented:
I Will Win the War
When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.”
Oh Mihran…yes…”the way of truth and love!!!!” I so agree my friend…Thank you for adding your wonderful words <3
