7/25/15

I had my last injection in my knee on Tuesday.  I walked up to my door (sue me…I had my cell phone in my hand so I was not looking EXACTLY where I was going) and guess who I found at my front door?  Yes, Little Ninja Crab.  I screamed, much like my snake scream, mainly because I was startled (unlike my snake scream!)

Of course my first thought was, “I need a photo of him!”  He was content to oblige me, that is until I decided I needed to get a little closer…and WHAM!!  Ninja hands were up and ready with lightning fast speed.

I believe he is a “blue land crab.”  I think he is beautiful.  If you are interested, here is a Wikipedia link that will tell you more about him.

A friend shushed him away from the door.  I don’t know what I was thinking…I was still in the hallway (approximately a 12ft hallway).  Suddenly Ninja Crab started running right at me!!!  I turned on my newly injected knee, and ran down the hallway screaming!!  As luck would have it for my neighbor, he made a quick left turn just as she was coming around the corner.  Now all three of us were screaming!!  Well, I didn’t actually hear Ninja Crab, I just assume he was as frightened as the two of us! 😉

I looked on several sights for the meaning of being visited by a crab.  There were several interesting ideas:

The crab never takes a direct or forward path…most times it runs sideways…so it is a reminder that sometimes a problem can be solved by coming at it sideways as opposed to head on.  It is also a reminder that not all paths lead directly to a goal and that your inner voice may be trying to lead you in a different way.

And the meaning that seemed to make the most sense to me giving the events that ensued the following day, is that the crab reminds us we can wear our own protective armor when we need to.  You know the saying, “Hurt people hurt.”  I was the recipient of a loved one’s hurt, and it hurt really bad.  I visualized my pretty Ninja Crab and I duplicated an armor of blue, and I slid inside.  It didn’t take the hurt away, but it didn’t let any more in.  All in all, a very successful strategy I’d say!

I am grateful for my visit from the Blue Ninja Crab.  I am Blessitude! <3

    1. Yah Ha!!! Karate chop!! 🙂 It is funny I never thought of it before, but it makes perfect sense and I think I’ll keep it in my bag of tricks! <3

  1. What a colorful crab courier, and nice to deliver you a fun surprise and reminder to protect yourself.
Maybe try a cloud of love too! XD hugs and healing energy to you Lorrie!

    1. You’re the best!! Giant smile to you Brad 🙂 Thank you for the beautiful wishes. I just love that Ninja Crab!!! Although…I thought how easy it would have been if I was inside my condo and opened the door…he could have run INTO the house!!! <3

  2. Great Haiku and I love the picture and background story – and I agree with your observation that sometimes to work through challenges or to move forward through something – moving sideways is a strategic path to take. Much love, Harlon

    1. I was thinking of you just a few moments ago!! We have to stop meeting like this 🙂 Thanks my friend. It is good advice for me…I have been known to take the full on…head on approach a time or two (hehe.) Perhaps I am starting to mellow with age….
Much love back…I hope that tomorrow you will see something that will remind you of a fantastic memory!! <3

  3. This was an fun and exciting post. I can’t imagine having a crab come to my doorstep. Of course, I live in the city. 🙂 I love how you looked up the meaning of the visit. Everything has a reason and it’s good that you took the time to look at all the possibilities. Others would have taken it at face value. I too could have heard the scream from here. Snakes, I’m getting used to the garden variety but when we lived in Georgia, seeing a snake put wings on my feet. They terrified me. In the house, I may have moved out and left it to the snake. :)) Hope your knee is better soon. Hugs.

    1. HaHaHa! It was pretty cool meeting the Ninja Crab! His colors were magnificent! I am doing much better, thank you Marlene! …the injections were a very good thing! 🙂 So good to connect with you tonight <3

  4. I love the ninja crab thing Lorrie. My Aspie son is obsessed right now with the mutant ninja turtles. Everything right now is ninja. Even ninja hybrids of the Avengers characters and Spider man. He just lives ninjas. We had look in Google images at ninjas and learn about them. Hahaha. He is so funny. This pist of yours totalky peaked my interest simply because of your adorable Haiku and mention of the ninja crab. I will have to show my son.
    Love and blessings Lorrie.
    ☺💕

    1. Thanks Staci!! I hope your baby loves my little Ninja Crab!! It was fun to meet him, learn about him and ultimately write about him. I have not forgotten about my post of the sea…it is in the works…I will let you know when it is posted. I will be traveling this week…and have a collaboration scheduled for Wednesday. But it exists!! Hope you are making it through winter…it always seems so funny to me that we could have temps in the 90’s and you are experiencing WINTER!! Much love, dear friend!! Have a beautiful day ♡♡

      1. Hahahaha. Yes, I’m going to show him your little ninja crab this afternoon.
Hmmm, 90 degrees eh. Well, our temps here for winter are a low of, 55 and high of 82. But that is on the chillier side for us. Hehehe.
Have a wonderful week Lorrie. Looking forward to your collaboration post on Wednesday. Is it with Frederic again?
        Bless you.
        🙂 <3

        1. That is a pretty large range in temperature, Staci! I like b it hot and humid 🙂

Yes…my collaboration Wednesday is with Fre’de’ric! He is such an inspiration to me…I adore him!! Happy you are looking forward to it…hope we don’t disappoint 🙂 ♡♡

          1. Oh yes, the lows would be early morning and in the evening. The highs are mid-day.
Oh great. I know it will be an awesome poem. I love his poetry too. I’m positive you won’t disappoint.
            🙂 <3

  5. “A friend shushed him away from the door.”

    A confession: I read this as “A friend Sushi(ed) him . . . ”

Funny how the subconscious works on the conscious isn’t it?

Lots of love to you dear Lorrie.

    1. LOL!! And I mean REALLY out loud! My doggie sat up and looked at me with a ‘what’s so funny…what did I miss’ expression!! I was never afraid of him, though in retrospect that one giant claw could definitely do some damage, so no need to sushi him 😉 But I did run and scream like a little girl when I thought he was chasing me! Which made me think, if I don’t run away…I can’t be chased!! Just some food for thought. Have a wonderful Sunday, Hariod!

P.S. I smacked a few tennis balls around yesterday! 🙂 I have a long, long way to go. But I read in a blog yesterday someone’s grandmother’s advice…”Sometimes we should look at all we have done instead of all that is left to do!!” ♡♡

  6. Wow!! So many lessons here, Lorrie. I can relate this to my life on so many levels. I especially like the image of moving sideways into some problems. thank you!

    1. So happy you found something that was helpful, Kim. I found that one particularly interesting as I’ve always been a dive in head first kind of gal! Hope you have a great week! 🙂

    1. Yes, Cynthia. This visit was jam packed full of lessons that I am grateful for! I’m just so happy he didn’t get in the house…that would have caused even more lessons 😉

  7. What a fun story! It has all the ingredients of a thriller with chasing, running, screaming and fighting…with those little ninja hands 🙂 Beautiful little crab who can also teach us a thing or two. Have a beautiful week, Lorrie!

    1. Ah! Tiny….it really was so exciting…and he was beautiful. In all the years I’ve lived here I have never seen one like him. Hope all your dreams are coming true on your side of the state!! ♡

  8. Wow I would have screamed too!!! and your newly injected knee got an early work out….do rest my friend and am glad you took away the positive ninja aspect from it hehe <3 You are amazing! Feel better soon!

    1. Aw, Neha…thanks!! ♡ I appreciate you! The injections are awesome…I am doing much better. I will be very relieved when I can stop taking the anticoagulant medication…not to mention I know I will feel better. It is a process 🙂 Much love to you ♡♡

  9. I had fun imagining all that screaming and running, knowing you were having some fun with it too. Screaming must be cathartic when running from pretty little ninja crabs. I’m so glad you are healing well! 🙂

    1. Hi JoAnne! It really was funny….one of those times you wished there was a video tape running 🙂 Thanks so much. Hope your summer is chugging along beautifully! How was your retreat?

  10. Hi Lorrie,
I was trying to comment on your post the other day when something got left off…
Basically what I was trying to write was: WOW…. what a cool encounter 😉
Very wise are you… to take a lesson from this potentially clueless crab, and what a beautiful heart of strength to know your boundaries, knowing you weren’t actually under attack 🙂 One more thing: thank heavens for your newly injected knee!
    ALoha, Ka

    1. Hi Ka! I’m sorry your words got cut off …I hate when that happens! But I’m really happy you tried again as it is so nice to hear from you! Thanks for your support…it’s nice to have the message reinforced by other dear souls!! Have a super wonderful weekend ♡
