You think you’ve done all that you can
and still there’s something missing
You work so hard to heal
and you just peel back layers
You think you’ve gone down every road
crossed every “t”
dotted every “i”
felt every emotion
seen every trauma
experienced every pain
forgiven every person
and yet
There’s still something missing

I’ve come to believe our sole purpose on earth is to find our way back to our authentic selves. We are born little innocent babies and spend the next 20 years burying our truth with pain and shame, and guilt and fear. The next 20 years we laugh at life as we boldly believe we are invincible, and we gradually begin to feel something is not right.

If we are lucky, we move into the healing game as we start to recognize our own mortality. We do lots of soul searching and lots of work to heal the fractured parts, but invariably we miss something.

There are three spokes on the wheel of healing; mind, body, and soul, and each one has to be addressed and integrated to find the strength and harmony of your authentic soul.

I don’t know why healing happens when it happens, or why it doesn’t happen when it doesn’t happen. Perhaps it is something that has a mind of its own; something we don’t control.

It is like it has a life cycle and no matter how much work we do it only comes to the surface after it has moved through the levels of consciousness; after it has moved up and out of our cells and all the stars have aligned – meaning our body, mind, and soul are in agreement that the time is right! Yes, you are safe and protected and now is the time for you to face every single thing without fear.

There is pseudo-healing, and then there is deep, complete, visceral healing. Pseudo-healing is all the work you do, and you have an intellectual understanding (you are in your mind.) Then something happens and you discover a truth that hits you on the inside like a lightning bolt. It is deep in your body, and it connects to your mind and finally – mind and body are on the same wavelength – in agreement.

Your body is thankful that you “get it” and it cries. It cries from every cell, and you have physical symptoms. But you are not afraid because you know this understanding is so powerful and you feel such a release as your body lets go of all the bad memories.

And then your soul smiles.

When body and mind come together and integrate into truth over past trauma there is a rising crescendo of love. Then the soul breathes a sigh of relief because the triumvirate is once again united in the same place – in the same space – connected as one!

It is such a freeing experience to have such integration – the emotional healing I experienced was life-changing! I would just like to add that for anyone who is in the middle of their journey, in the middle of their pain, there is always help available. It can feel so hopeless as you sit with the shame and feel like you can’t share it with anyone.

In my experience, it is facing this pain and shame that actually takes the fear out of it! And once we eliminate the heavy blanket of fear, it allows us to free ourselves of all that has been buried for so long.

    1. Thank you, Brad ๐Ÿ™‚ Sure hope that the new year entered with love and peace.
The healing path is one filled with surprises! And it’s funny what we don’t know…until it presents itself full and center!
Have a super week filled with lots of love and light <3

  1. Wonderful post, Lorrie. The synergy between the mind & body when it comes to healing and life is an essential partnership. I wish you a great weekend.

    1. Thanks, Randall…all good wishes to you as well ๐Ÿ˜Š That synergy is so very powerful. When all systems work together it is amazing how good it feels! Hope your ventures are touching your soul!

  2. Hi Lorrie, I think most of us go through life feeling as though something is missing. I know I did, and itโ€™s only been the last twenty years or so that Iโ€™m recognising we all have a power in our own healing journey. A wonderful, thought provoking post my friend. Hope this year is one of love, healing continued growth and tons of laughter. Much love and peace to you. xx

    1. Thank you, dear Miriam! Yes, yes, yes…to all of that!! Especially the laughter ๐Ÿ™‚ I know that is one of the gifts we all can use to make it through the tough times.
It is empowering when we finally realize that we have a lot of control over our own healing. I think the hard part is when we have to take responsibility for the things we contributed in the first place. I sometimes wish I could put it all into words…into a recipe, so to speak, to make it easier for those starting the journey. But, as each journey is so unique that doesn’t seem possible. Best to just offer support to those on the road behind us.
I wish you all good things, Miriam. I hope that life is a little more settled…even though I know you are fine if it isn’t!!
Many wishes for everything your heart desires in this new year 2023!! <3

      1. A recipe for lifeโ€™s healing! What a fabulous thought Lorrie, but youโ€™re right, each journey is different and unique and we all find our way eventually. Thanks for the good wishes my friend. The year has started in a topsy turvy way for me but Iโ€™m smiling, at peace and trusting in the flow of life. Big hugs to you and hereโ€™s to an amazing year ahead for both of us. xx ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. Very beautifully said Lorrie, it is an incredible journey dear lady, touching us deeply as needed on our path to integrate that love perfectly. It never seems to feel like that, but our higher selves ‘knows’ what we want…it is us ๐Ÿ˜€ And in its pain, in its falls, and even in those many moments of laughter and joy, it is bringing us home to that inner beauty called love. The more we understand, the more free we become. A great post my friend, may it be the signpost of your journey ๐Ÿ˜€โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

    1. I like that, Mark…”the signpost of my journey!” It certainly feels as if there was huge movement. I know it was a very deep understanding and I hope to never forget how powerful this integration is. I can look back and see the times when my mind was in control, just as I can see when the body spoke up and said, “Hey, look over here.” In my particular pain, one would accuse the other, and all that did was add to the chaos…the imbalance. A true understanding now exists between the two, and as I stated…my soul is smiling ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I know for you to have such understanding you had to have walked a painful journey. I applaud you, and your healing, Mark. I know how difficult it can be, and I can also tell just how far you have come.

Sweet Blessings to you. I hope the week ahead is filled with joy! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ

  4. Yes, healing is amazing and itโ€™s absolutely possible, at any and all moments of the โ€œgame of life.โ€ Blessings to you Lorrie! May you continue to take your deep earned wisdom and heal others!! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

    1. Hi Ka! Sure hope the new year came in with peace and joy for you ๐Ÿ˜Š
Thank you for your beautiful words…you definitely touch my soul and I am so grateful to feel your love and encouragement. Healing is big work!! I look back at the beginning (and not so beginning) of my healing journey and I am amazed at the journey I have traveled!! You’ve been there for so much of it…cheering me on from the sideline. I appreciate you!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ
Have a great new week ahead, Ka. Lots of love and light!!

  5. When the soul breathes a sigh of relief โ€ฆ I like that. People expect there to be trumpets and fireworks and the biggest celebration from the top of mountains. The ego would enjoy that so much๐ŸŽ‰ Yet, its usually just like you say. And the next day is different from any you have had before. Not because you are doing different things, but because you are living your authentic self.

    1. Love that, Val! I agree, the ego would love all the fanfare of a parade in the streets!! But it is more subtle…you do suddenly feel…PEACE. Thanks for witnessing the journey, and for always being a soft, safe place to connect to.
Wishing you all good things in this new year ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ

  6. Thank you for this profound post, Lorrie. As always, it touches me deeply and your words felt authentic and true. I have felt so much the same – having gone through remarkable healing, I am sometimes baffled that I still have work to do. But when you wrote that we cannot necessarily control our healing destiny, I realized that it is the crux of it all. It has its own timetable and relinquishing that need to control it might be exactly what I need to do. So I thank you again for inspiring me with your blessitude. Sending you so much love!

    1. Awww…thank you, Judy! Yes, it’s all part of that “letting go” that seems so hard to do. I think we mistakenly hold on to layers of pain because we think we are protecting ourselves…some things that are so terrible seem like they would rip our world apart if we allowed them up…so we hold them down and try not thing about it. That’s where the error is made because we have so much fear. Maybe we could handle the worst pain and deal with it and allow it to float off into the ether. But, I assume it is like anything else…we do what we do when we do it…BECAUSE WE ARE READY.
Sending much love and light to you friend. And sorry I missed your live…We had a dress rehearsal at the theatre ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have a super week! <3

  7. Wonderful wisdom Lorrie.. Most of us I know it seems have been on this path of healing~ letting go and searching our inner core to heal past wounds as we open ourselves up to Learning how to LOVE ourselves..
I know this is no easy task, and many of us find we can often come around full circle to find something else which will trigger an old wounding …
My own True healing began when I started to Love myself, accept my wounds, and see how even the deepest scars had shaped and formed me into my present BE-ing..
One you face the pain and fear as you so wisely say Lorrie, we then begin our healing process..

Wise words, We are not just our minds we are our energy bodies and Light bodies, All which have been fragmented over time… It is no easy task pulling all our parts back into wholeness..
    Much love dearest Lorrie… Have a wonderful 2023 <3

    1. Ah, Sue…I know you speak from your soul as you respond to this post. And such experience creates the wisdom that you share here…knowing that the real key to healing is learning to love ourselves! There is a tender matrix of allowing and releasing and then adding love.
It’s a journey filled with so much. And I used to “fight” it and wish that it wasn’t the way it was. It feels really good to finally accept it, as you said, and to recognize that it is all a part of my journey and it has all made me who I am. Accepting that, and then adding the self-love…WOW!! Yes!!!
Thanks for adding your beautiful authentic self, Sue. Wishing you all the best for the week ahead and hope that you experience love and laughter!! <3

      1. Always a delight to land here among your beautiful philosophy on life Lorrie and learning to accept and let go, while loving deeper.. We see how we have so been pitted to ‘Fight’ ourselves, others, as we compete and control..
While the first half of this year may well seem chaotic and out of balance, I know the energies are coming in to allow many more souls to take a deeper look within themselves, and it is going to be difficult for a necessary process of healing inner past wounds..
Which have to surface in order to be cleared…
Just like the dark shadows of those controllers around our Earth, all are being pushed towards the light by our opening our Higher Consciousness..
Sending Love and Blessings dearest Lorrie <3 <3

        1. Thanks, Sue. I love to hear your ideas about the energies that are coming. Healing can be so painful, and yet it is so beautiful…and so necessary!!! I truly hope that more and more people are taking the leap to heal what comes up because I have to believe the more people heal…the more our earth will heal too!!!
All good things to you, Sue!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ

    1. Hi Ann ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s funny that we spend a great deal of time walking away from our true selves! But there is nothing like walking back toward it, finding it, and loving it!!
Hope all is well with you Ann…sending all good wishes for the new year <3
