CAN YOU ACT “AS IF”?

BLOG POST WHEN YOU ACT AS IF

What happens when you act AS IF?
Could this new year be one that is totally created by you? Can you act as if you already are/have what you want/need and then speak it into creation?

WHAT IF 2024 BECOMES EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED…AND MORE?

Then the real question is: what do you want? Because if you don’t know what you want, then you’re still creating something else, and it’s probably something you don’t want…I guarantee it.

Look at last year. Can you name three things or themes around which you had a clear intention and then created them?

If you can’t, then you need to do some good evaluation of the things that happened and the way your life unfolded in 2023. Name three things that changed and then go back to your mindset for the year and figure out how you directed the creation of these events. Because you created it all. You had to be in agreement, at least in part, with these ideas.

WE ARE SO POWERFUL
Either consciously or unconsciously!

You can move over the threshold of this new year and treat it the way you have for the last 50 or so, or you can try something new.

What if you stood in your power and decided what you want your life to look like? And what if you made a plan and set tiny goals that lead to bigger goals that lead to you living your life exactly the way you want to live it?

Stand in your power, people! Know that YOU decide what your life looks like. You decide what you will allow and what you won’t allow.

And then go for it!!! Act AS IF you already have it and take tiny steps each day.

Last year my concentration for my life was discipline. I realized it was a common thread that ran through a few different things that I wanted to change.

I needed to lose weight, which meant that I had to eat more healthy food. I set my mind to a weight loss goal and then I committed myself to it. This was something that had been on my agenda for YEARS, but I never made the changes needed to accomplish it. I would exercise more, but never changed the food that passed my lips. I learned the truth in the saying that no amount of exercise can make up for a poor diet.

When I thought about the discipline it would take to lose 20 pounds, it scared me to death. I didn’t want to start the year with a half-baked commitment and then fail before the end of January, as I had in the past.

So I had to get real, and it was uncomfortable. No one could make the change for me, and I knew it was up to me. I controlled the environment with the things I thought and the things I did.

Discipline! I had to make choices every single day, and I wanted to feel good at the end of each one! I lost 20 pounds, and I fluctuated +/- 3lbs the entire year of 2023. Which isn’t bad, especially since we are in the middle of the holiday season 😉

I share this with you because it’s so important to realize how we control our lives. I knew for years that the missing component was changing my diet, but I LOVED bad food so much I wasn’t willing to give it up. But the worst part was how I would whine when I couldn’t move the scale – even a couple of pounds.

It’s pretty funny how the very first week I changed the food I ate, I lost 8 pounds!

There’s only so long you can fool yourself – that is IF YOU REALLY WANT TO CHANGE!

If you can use a little help with that change, read the Blog Post “KNOCK” here.

Sending so much love and light your way for the threshold of this new year. I hope it’s the year that you realize your power and create your life from a place of design!

Blessitude!

  1. Happy New Year, Lorrie! I’ve been increasingly more intentional every year. At this point I have most of 2024 already committed and planned! 🎊🎉🎊🎉

So many of my dreams continue to come true because of my focus, clarity, and loyalty to my commitments—especially my daily practices. I appreciate your beautiful post as it causes me to reflect and also realize how much I have succeeded year after year. Congratulations on your weight loss and making better food choices.

May you have many more blessings in 2024! Much love! Ka

    1. Oh my goodness, Ka! I was in the middle of responding to your comment and suddenly it said your comment was trashed…there was a button where I could “undo” it, but when I tried to click it, it all just disappeared!! Anyway…I’m so happy I was able to retrieve it!!!!
I was probably rambling anyway 😉
What I wanted to respond is that I love your comment because it shows how when we are mindful of how we spend our time, and spending is a good word because time is like a currency that we have limited amounts of, we make room for what is important to us. If we don’t pay attention, then time just drifts off into space and we have no idea where it goes.

You sound so excited about this new year and I am happy for you! Here’s to having dreams and believing that we can make them come true!!
Sending lots of love and light <3
      Lorrie

      1. Wow this is so interesting. I’m sure I would have appreciated what you wrote; that has definitely happened to me! (lost it all sometimes!!)

Spending is a good word for our time. We really do have to be selective. I’ve also taken to stretching and bending time lately. And working on magic around that. Today I treated a mama and baby in my office. I just love that I spent a lot of time figuring out what work would be the most meaningful to me, and it just goes on from there. I also have so projects and dreams yet to unfold (art and more). So yes!!! Here’s to having dreams and believing we can make them come true! All blessings returned to you, too! And received with gratitude! 🙏🏼🩷
It’s so nice to be inspired with a friend and to share in that energy. Big big hugs 🤗🥰

        1. It feels like the creative energy is so big right now, Ka! And something shifted for me where I’m not “holding on” to my projects. It may still take a while to figure out how to get it done…because a simple painting turns into a 3D sculpture/painting…but I’m good with that. I’m not getting sad when something is over because I feel such an abundance of creative energy…I know there will be more!
Lots of love, friend!! Keep on keeping on!!💜

          1. Oh I love to read this. I absolutely agree that the creative energy is big and growing. I think installation art is so much fun (or 3-D) however you display it. Once I did a show as part of a collaboration in a re-envisioned abandoned building that was for sale. It was a cool idea called “Flux” to have these pop-up galleries to sell the building. I was in my early 20s and it was after I did a commissioned painting. So I thought my art career would “take off” but I fizzled instead. Anyways, bringing people to the art show helped bring more awareness to the building. For this installation (my first and only) I worked with a friend and we made boxes full of all sorts of things. We had a theme but I actually forget it. I think it was social commentary. I didn’t prepare anything extra for sale on the side but she did. Letting things go… I hear you on it. Actually this friend wanted to buy one of my favorite paintings I did on wood. To this day, I’m glad I didn’t sell it. I always had trouble establishing “my signature style” because I’m so eclectic. Today I my home and office catchup day, so I will probably make ti for some art!!! Keep going with that beautiful creativity!!! Yes keep on keeping on 🌺🌺🌺
            💞💛💞. 🪷🌈

            1. Wow, Ka. What a great story…and idea to get attention on the building. I’m sure looking back, you see why things happened the way they did…that some other path was more in-line with your purpose.
And I could have written your words “I always had trouble establishing ‘my signature style’ because I’m so eclectic.” SAME OH…SAME OH!!! And because of that, I used o think I wasn’t an “Artist!” But I don’t think that way any more…and I think it speaks to the level of creativity we both experience…that it isn’t put in a nice tidy box…but rather breaks through any wall as what must be created…will be created!!! 😁💜
Fun having this talk with you today!!
              Sweet Blessings!!

    1. Hi Mark! Love love love this!! Or, at least may our minds not interrupt our hearts when they are on to something!! It blows my mind how fast this past year has flown by. Sometimes it feels like I have slept through most of it, but I know that is not true. I plan to have more awareness in this new year 2024. I want to be a willing participant and fully live in each moment.
Sending lots of love, light, and awareness to you, Mark. Hope that the new year brings you peace and understanding!

      1. I have no doubt this year will attract to us exactly what we are able to see, understand and heal kind lady. Sometimes it may feel a bit much, but that heart inside us is a powerful thing Lorrie. May it be kind, may it be testing, but most of all, may it be true. Have a great year my friend 😀❤️🙏

        1. Thanks, Mark! The energy I feel surrounding the start of this new year is definitely powerful. And I feel powerful!! So here’s to embracing what is there, and standing in our truth!!
          All good things, friend <3

    1. Awww…thanks, Liz! We need to connect soon and catch up. I’ve never seen a year go faster, and if it doesn’t get scheduled…it doesn’t get done!
Hope that things are a good as they can be. You know I keep you in my thoughts and prayers. <3

  3. So empowering and very inspiring Lorrie. And it’s true, what we set our focus on expands. When we set intentions, live with a heart filled with gratitude and follow through with action and commitment life becomes blessedly abundant. Happy new year! Wishing you a joyous and peace filled 2024 my friend!! 💜🙏💫

    1. Just love your spirit, Miriam. It shines in all you do. You are a huge inspiration to me because I know you walk the walk…every single day! The journey out of pain and darkness is one full of many twists and turns. To connect with people who live life with purpose and excitement is such a delight.
I hope that you always feel love and peace, and that this new year brings you special moments. Happy New Year, Miriam <3

      1. What beautiful, kind words! Thank you my friend. I’m so grateful for every single day of this journey, no matter what it brings, and also for like minded souls like yourself who are walking the same way. Much love always Lorrie. 💗🙏🏻

    1. Yes, Ann! Because it can be so painful when we recognize that things don’t just happen. Responsibility is tough sometimes. We want others to take responsibility and yet, we may not always be willing to do the same.
I do think this year is going to be one that will make people look inward and have to make big decisions.
Hope you are well…and that this year brings you love, peace, and clarity!

  4. Happy New Year, Lorrie! Your post is so inspiring and exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you for all your love and wisdom – you are a special person in my life!

    1. Awww…love you, Judy! You are very special to me also. I am really happy that we have connected in this wonderful world of blogging and I wish you so much love, light, and peace! Here’s to a wonderful new year…I can’t wait to see what you create!!! <3

  5. Thank you so much for this inspiration! I’ve met goals in the past, and have some written down for this year, but I could definitely be more disciplined about them, by standing in my power and deciding – acting on – what I will allow and what I won’t allow -what foods, thoughts, and energy I will and will not allow into by body and mind. Resurrecting journal writing will help, too. I’m so glad your positive energy is now part of my New Year!

    1. Awww…thank you, JoAnna…I love that! I can look back many years and all the times we’ve connected. I can honestly say that I have never been more aligned with my truth, and that I am living from a place of authenticity.

There are so many things…so many choices we make each day and they all impact our lives in great ways. Once you recognize this fact it is hard to go back to living under a rock!!!

It’s nice to connect and I hope you are busy creating whatever your inner truth directs you to! Here’s to a wonderful new year…may we all walk in our truth! <3

  6. Such commitment has to come first from within… as with all things… We have to Want to change, and in doing so we have to focus our intentions upon that which we see needs to change..
As with you and your diet, and the kind of food you ate, so too within our mindsets do we also need to focus our intentions on that which we wish to bring about in our lives..

I gave up with the New Year resolutions years ago… because we often haphazardly say things we want to happen, but we seldom put our intentions into creating them…

Learning to go within and really focus upon intention, means putting those intentions into action..
And for many even changing their diet is too much of an ask.. Because they like where they are at… They don’t wish to move out of their comfort zones..

So I totally agree Lorrie, we can no longer FOOL ourselves, in anything, for if we desire change, we have to put the effort in and make those changes… Within and without..

Wishing you a very Happy New Year Lorrie…. and I hope that you have got your Canvas primed and paints ready for your own dragon to immerge ..

Lots of Love and all the best for 2024 and beyond dearest Lorrie xx <3
    Hugs Sue xx

    1. That’s the funny thing, Sue…all those years I THOUGHT I wanted to change…and I did. I just didn’t want to change MORE than I wanted to eat all the bad food!! When I look back it’s embarrassing how poor my diet was. (How about a bag of cheese doodles for dinner??) But I am doing much better now!!

Most people don’t want to change much, and some are stuck in ways that they will never change. I agree about resolutions – I gave them up years ago as well. Then I thought of the new year in terms of “concentrations” – things I would like to become more aware of.

I do know that discipline is not something that you either have or don’t have. Discipline is something that you need to practice. And if you continue to practice and have little successes, they will eventually turn into much larger ones. Last year I did concentrate on discipline, and I have to say that I am so much better with it.

People will change when what they are doing no longer works for them. Or they change when they HAVE to change because of illness.

Thanks for the nod on my dragon. I was writing with Ka Malana and told her how my idea of a simple painting had morphed into a 3D painting (of course it did!!) and I am not quite sure how I will engineer that yet…but figuring it out is half the fun.
Sending all good wishes of love and peace to you for this new year, Sue. <3
