WAITING TO LIVE

I stand alone

And I walk in quiet solitude

Each step forward leaves a piece of the past behind

Jarring footsteps

Root me in the reality of a new world

The scenery has changed

What I see with my eyes

And what I feel in my heart.

It’s difficult to breathe through the layered fabric

But it is better to do it for yourself

I am a lucky one.

I don’t know what’s ahead

But I know I am alive

And somehow there’s a clarity

That was not there before.

Others are waiting to live

And the clock ticks on

Time in a bottle not noticed

As a vortex sucks their attention

And all that is left

Is the dust of a dirt road

Kicked up as they missed the ride.

These are strange new times in which we find ourselves. Some will live through it, some will die, and some will be alive – but not LIVE!

I keep hearing, “We have to get back to living,” and I want to scream, “WE ARE LIVING!”

I suppose what they mean is they want the world to go back to the way it was. They want to live their lives the way they were. They can not stand this change.

But not all change is bad. This forced lock down has had so many positive environmental effects on our Mother Earth! Perhaps it is a lesson for the things we can do to heal her. And perhaps it is also a lesson in what we can do to heal our own relationships.

During this time in a forced lock down we find ourselves with more time. We can view that as a good thing and explore life’s possibilities.

My wish for you is that you not only LIVE during this time, but that you flourish as you find the things and the people that matter most to you. And once you realize what they are you make sure to include them in your life – every day!

Stay safe…be well!

Blessitude!

Lorrie ❤

  1. Yes, I agree that this shouldn’t feel like life is on hold~ this is the real deal and we have a chance to fully accept this moment and appreciate it for the gifts it gives as we acknowledge the struggles and challenges as well. Virtual hugs to you!

    1. And to you, Kristen. You nailed it on the head. There are so many who are sick or who have lost a loved one…my heart goes out to them. It is such a sad and lonely way to die. But just like all of life there is a balance between the good and the bad. Please stay safe…and I wish you so many gifts ❤

    1. Received…and so necessary, Val!! I only recently in my life understood the value of touch…the comfort of a hug…and it feels like it has been a long time. It makes me a little sad that I waited so long!!
I send you so many blessings…and wishes of good health. I’m certain you are going with the “flow.” I just know it 😉
      Be well, Val ❤

  2. These are great reminders Lorrie. I’m glad that something shifted for you and you’re living fully now. I’ve spent much of my life thinking later will be better. I’m not loving my life, but I’m not discounting it either. Hugs and blessings…

  3. Living abundantly, Lorrie. Change is difficult for everyone to accept, yet with acceptance that is when we can move forward. Even with circumstances as they are today, it is possible to move forward. I too see wonderful GOOD changes in our environment and I pray those who can make a difference, notice too and work very very hard to keep the clean air as is! This too shall pass! No one knows what is to come yet we can all HOPE that those things we all are meant to learn, we do. Much love to you! xo

    1. Thanks, dear Amy 😊 Its good to feel your energy and hear your very wise thoughts! I agree with you…and it is the people who have too much fear that get stuck in the idea that change is bad. I have to believe that all will be well and continue to live my life from the energy of love💜
Stay safe, Amy. Continue to live life with gusto and continue to create what comes from you soul!

  4. Lorrie,
I agree we are living, it is in a new way. As a society, many of us are impatient and resistant to change. This is a necessary time. If we choose to be a little uncomfortable, we can heal ourselves and Mother Earth. Great blog. Blessings of love and continuing health, Lisa xoxo

    1. Thanks Lisa, for adding your thoughts and energy here 😊 I also feel it is a time of renewal and if we can change the way we think about it, we can come out the other end in a kinder more loving way.
Many Sweet Blessings to you…and yes…good health! 💜

  5. Lovely poem describing the current times, Lorrie. So agree with you that these current times have been good for the world. Less pollution in places and it’s also a time for us to admire what’s in our garden or even on our quiet nature walks. I also really like it when you say this is a time to explore possibilities. That got me thinking of what we can possibility in the future, where we want to be and what’s important to us. Hope you are staying safe. Take care.

    1. Ah…Mabel…yes! The possibilities are endless. We can do anything that we want to do. When we are busy in the day to day we don’t always stop and think about things. This pandemic and subsequent lock down affords us more time for this kind of exploration. I hope you find what is in your heart and then go for it!!
I am well, Mabel, thank you. PEACE & LIGHT💜

      1. You are so right, Lorrie. So many of us now have more time, and it’s up to us to make good use of this time, either to do things we’ve always wanted to do or take time out. Good to hear you are well. Take care ❤

  6. Beautiful post… Yes when we look and see many positives that we can find emerging throughout these crazy weeks which this world has shut down…
While we have shut down, Gaia has opened up her own heart, as I see bluer skies, the oceans I hear are clearing as are waterways.. Wild life is returning even visiting cities…
Gaia is repairing while we too are being given a chance to repair… But many may not see this yet.. As they are still stuck in clinging onto their old habits and old ways of being.. Hence they cannot appreciate Life in the Moment… They need outside stimulus to make them ‘Feel’ they are living..

Nothing much has changed within my own world, apart from missing our granddaughter and family.. For I live each day in abundance emerged in nature and her bountiful gifts..
A link to my garden blog,https://dreamwalkergarden.wordpress.com/ so you can see just how I spend most of my days.. 🙂 That and my home garden, knitting and painting… 🙂 I live in each moment enjoying each and every one..

Sending Huge hugs your way Lorrie.. Stay Happy, Healthy and Wise.. 🙂 ❤

    1. Ah! I love that you sent your link as I just responded to you questioning you about your garden!!! Connection! I will definitely have a visit to see what you are up to😁
It is the moments, Sue. I think I took time for granted and lived more in the pain of the past and the what it’s of the future. I am doing so much better now being in the moment. Creating has always been the place that kept me in the moment…but now I realize that we are ALWAYS creating!!
My heart breaks for those whiner so tortured during this time. It seems like there are so many people who are.not comfortable being with themselves. There is a shift taking place…I can FEEL it. People are afraid of change…but life is always changing.
I send you lots of love and light, Sue. I never had a doubt that you would be living your life the way you normally do. I’m so grateful for you…for the energy I feel from you. I look ahead on the path and I always see you there!!
Happy Mother’s Day! I know this day must be bittersweet…I feel that too. But it is all good…and all the lessons have moved us forward!
      💜💜

But all will look back upon this time as a defining moment however they choose to shift through it.
Take care my beautiful friend, who has grown so much. 🧡💙💜🙋🙏

  7. Beautiful post!! I love the part where you say that many people are alive, but are not truly living!! Thank you for the light you are sharing!!
“And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
    Our presence automatically liberates others.”
    -Marianne Williamson
I felt like this was very fitting for the work that you are doing here!!
