I just finished the trek from south Florida to New Jersey to my summer residence. The ride is long and my body tends to fight sitting in the car for 20 hours…even if it is broken up over two days.
I dress as comfortably as possible…which means yoga pants, loose top, and sneaks. A shower at the hotel after a workout and fall asleep on semi-wet hair makes for a hair do that looks like a fire cracker styled it! No make up – not that I wear much anyway. Oh…and don’t forget…remnants of white cheddar cheese doodles…my very guilty pleasure that makes the ride more enjoyable.
We arrived at a gas station in mid Virginia and of course finding the nearest restroom was the only thing on my mind. I was almost to the door when I heard someone say, “Hello beautiful!” I never in a million years thought it could be directed to me, so I reluctantly looked up to see a beautiful person.
The man behind the counter looked me in the eyes and said, “Yes…hello beautiful!”
I first blushed, then giggled, and said hello back. The whole time I was taking care of business I had a huge smile on my face. I took a survey of what the man saw and thought, “Is he crazy? Look at me!”
My thoughts went back in time to my mother saying, “You look like a rag muffin” or “You look like you just fell off the banana truck!” As a kid I didn’t understand the meanings, but I sure knew how I looked when she said them.
So again I felt like the “rag muffin” or the lone survivor from the banana truck, and this man called me beautiful…..?
In an instant I understood. He looked right past my trodden exterior and he saw the love in my heart. And it made me feel beautiful!
I walked, this time right by him. He was busy helping a customer but I said, “Goodbye, Handsome!”
He winked and said, “Travel safe!”
I smiled as I skipped to my car. Seems this was a stop that not only fueled my car, but fueled my soul as well.
A stranger…? Maybe…because we have never met in the flesh.
A friend…? For sure…for we recognized our connection to the beautiful spirit of love.
Blessitude

What a beautiful experience Lorrie! 🙂 And of course you are beautiful! Your Love shines out through your smile and your eyes, and that makes you a radiating Light of Beauty! 🙂
Dear dear Line! Your words make me humble. Thank you for your love! ♡♡♡♡
Lorrie, Moms are so powerful! I often think some just can’t see, or perhaps acknowledge, the beauty of their children. Protection from the Evil Eye,?
Hi Michael…yes they are! And as a mom I pray that I have always been loving and kind…but we are humans…and I was very young. My mom very recently said that she was sad she didn’t realize how talented and creative I was. She cried…I tried to comfort her…but I don’t think I have properly dealt with those emotions. Ah…spirit decides!!!
Have a blessed week Michael! 🙂
What a beautiful and fun story Lorrie. I’m delighted you were “seen” so clearly. What a gift to give and receive. I’m still learning to see beyond the form.
Hi Brad…yes…so am I!! But this was such a beautiful lesson I don’t think I will forget soon (at least I hope not!!) 🙂 Have a super week! ♡♡

Am I ……….. Beautiful????
A beautiful woman delights the eye; a wise woman, the understanding; a pure one, the soul.
